2017 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I peeped First Take this morning and they were talking Indians, let alone MLB. I instantly turned the channel when I saw the topic was, "Will the Indians pull a 2016 Warriors?" :chuckle:

Such trash.

So unsurprising. Also on ESPN website: "Can the Indians win out?"

Saw that. Part of me just wants the streak to end. My family group text was freaking out last night worse than Game 7 which is inexcusable. We have a title to win.

The ticket guy I spoke with said almost 1200 new season ticket holders. Not sure if thats full season, or groups of partials.

Either way, this team is going to get a nice cash infusion.

To put this pitching staff's dominance in perspective:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/play-index/share.fcgi?id=OZslr

We are only 56 strikeouts away from the most strike outs by a pitching staff in a single season with 15 games to go.

At ~10 per, we'll set that easy. We are also comfortably on pace for the highest season long SO/W ratio. Ever.

Again - anything can happen and odds favor "the field", but this team is top-to-bottom built for the playoffs. Stay healthy, boys.

They usually account for partials in their numbers. i.e. If 800 quarter plans sign up, they count that as 200 season ticket holders. That's my understanding. Looked at tickets for some of the remaining games today. Looks like mostly crap seats available for the weekend games.

And now I see an article saying "David Price can be this year's Andrew Miller"

Nearly spit my drink all over my work computer

Hence why I don't watch ESPN for when it comes to Cleveland news at the end of the day. I would rather watch Zegura for Browns news since he actually gives a crap about the team. I listen to Hamilton/Knott (aka Manning and company for Indians updates).

Cleveland itself needs better sports writers for their teams. I am not saying we need 100% biased ones, but we need people who actually are positive and support the team with common sense.

I don't really see the David Price comparison as that ridiculous. Maybe if the thinking is he'll be as dominant as Miller was, but I think it's alluding to Farrell turning to Price at critical moments in the 5th or 6th, like Francona did with Miller last year. Before he got hurt this year, Price was lethal vs. lefties (.489 OPS)

Obviously there are a ton of question marks regarding Price: his health, past postseason struggles, ego, etc.

The question is, is price willing to come out of the bullpen for the playoffs? I mean his stuff is very good and could easily be a factor if he did, but I am not sure how much he is willing to do that.

Miller comparison is a bit iffy for me since Price has never really pitched out of the pen which is slightly different than starting, but on paper it doesn't look bad, but this isn't the console games where players seem to be able to do any role you put them in regardless.

For a split second I was semi-disappointed I couldnt get seats the area I wanted, but then I was overcome with joy knowing that people are committing to this team.

He helped the Rays reach the World Series the year after he was drafted, coming out of the pen.

Come on man... :chuckle:

Hence the ego comment. But it's either pitch out of the pen or stay at home, most likely.

His rookie year he came out the pen, in a Closer role, in the ALCS and WS for Tampa and did very well.
