2017 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Goldy would be insane, but Arizona would want literally the farm for that.

Regardless of what happens in the World Series, if Tomlin pitches like this (and as we know he really did most of the year), this team is just going to be fucking stupid good next year with Brantley and a full staff.

The offense just looks like shit right now. But it's against good pitching every night, I guess, is the excuse. It performed much better over the course of the regular season.

Just hoping they don't rest on their laurels, win or lose.

And no, I'm not confident in Salazar going forward either.

Think they for sure need another reliable bat, but I also think they've just hit a small funk here and there. Bad timing.

If Brantley comes back healthy, the lineup is pretty fantastic top to bottom... regardless what happens with Napoli. Only question mark is at catcher, but with how Gomes and Robo are behind the plate it's fine.

Gotta give credit to opposing teams pitching and defenses...we aren't exactly seeing easy matchups. Think we've faced 5 Cy Young candidates already, between Porcello, Happ, Sanchez, Lester, and now Hendricks...and we've managed to win 4 of those 5 games...

And Yan Gomes is not as bad as he was at the plate this year. Pretty easy to assume that he trends back upwards in 2017. Don't think he will ever have a Silver Slugger type year again, but he sure as shit isn't what we saw this year. He messed with his stance and changed it last winter, so hopefully he either gets more comfortable with it and things improve, or he changes it to something else that works this winter.

Ain't no way I extend a QO to Napoli after his postseason. Offer him a 1 year, 12 million dollar deal and if he walks, so be it. Would have rather had LaPorta out there.

I'd extend the QO to Napoli if he turns down a 2/$25 deal. With Brantley back, and his inevitable shift to 1B, I think we could get Napoli more rest.

Prior to this year, his career high in in PA and games was 578 and 140. He'd only gone over 500 PA 3 times and 130 games 3 times. Granted, there were many times where health was a factor in limiting his playing time.

This year he set new high marks with 645 PA and 150 games.

I think fatigue definitely played into some of his late seasons struggles. If you can give him the occasional day off against a righty with Brantley getting some reps at 1B, he'd stay fresher and more productive down the stretch.

I'd like Napoli back for the clubhouse.

But he better temper his expectations for the contract.

Dude wasn't just bad in the World Series or even playoffs.

This was a 2 month period where he gave us almost nothing.

With the revenue this deep run has created I hope they think bigger than just re-signing Napoli. Lock Lindor up until he is 50. Sign someone that can play OF like Cespedes

Cespedes is opting out of 2 years $47.5 million. I think it's safe to say he's out of our price range. I'll admit I was a big critic of his play in Oakland, and that he's far exceeded my expectations over the last 2 years. Still, It just wouldn't be a cost effective move.

We're better off using that extra money to keep extending our young players during their arbitration years in order to gain more years of team control. It's been a good model for us thus far, and has our core locked up through the decade. I'd also be more open to adding salary via trade, but unless you think you can get 1/2 year bargain, I think we'd be best served to avoid FA.

Napoli was GREAT for us this year, and even with his bad postseason, we don't get as far without him, IMO.

That said, paying a guy at his age coming off a career year seems really risky. I have a hard time seeing the Indians keeping him.

Before we talk Napoli, let's see what is discussed at Winter meetings and who is available through trade. Goldschmidt is a fantasy target and I'd trade Salazar/Meija/Bradley right now.

But im keeping Allen.

Zimmer will be called up and hopefully has a Lindor like effect in our OF. Naquin fell off a cliff when teams dared him to hit a fastball. Hes almost useless, and I don't know how you get better if you can't hit a fastball.

I think Ryan Merritt's cup of coffee in his few starts proved he can start.

Our 3 improvements could very well be, Brantley, Zimmer, and Goldy.

Not sure I like trading Saladbar. I know he has health issues but his arm is too good to let go. Id much rather move Bauer

Lindor/Ramirez locked up until 2020. Miller until 2019. Pitching staff locked up until 2020 as well.

I realize that for Lindor but how is that exciting? Lindor will be entering his prime in 2020.
