2017 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the CFP will be:

Oklahoma (assuming they beat TCU)
OSU/Wisconsin (B1G Winner)
Auburn/Georgia (SEC Winner)
Clemson (assuming they beat Miami)

Obviously if Oklahoma or Clemson lose things can change quite a bit, but I think any team not listed here needs a bit of help to get in. I don't see how anyone really gets in that's not listed here unless one of those teams loses.
Miami is getting in if they beat Clemson

So argument a 1 loss Wisconsin team gets in over 2 loss ohio state? Versus both?

I agree with that, so I guess in that case if Oklahoma loses maybe another team can sneak in, but otherwise it's B1G winner, SEC winner, ACC winner as 3 of the 4.

No, a 1 loss Wisconsin team would not get in over OSU (who they would have just lost to). Winner of OSU/Wisconsin is in the CFP.

It all really come down to if the committee puts two SEC teams in. Even a Oklahoma loss doesn't help much because it just makes even more room for Alabama and Oklahoma has the head to head against Ohio State....and Miami beating Clemson puts them in. However a Georgia win helps Ohio State because it makes the Alabama loss look worse.

538 still gives OSU a 60% chance of getting in playoff if they beat Wisconsin.

Still hope....

General thinking is Big 10 is in the argument for best conference in CFB this year. Would you not have a representative from the best conference?

Interestingly, 538 advises we want TCU to win. Increases our odds to 76%.

We'll see...

Just wanted to have a post outlining all the coaching movement among Power 5 schools. They don't call it silly season for nothing.

It's a yearly deal in Tallahassee, but Fisher's agent is using the Texas A&M as a renegotiation tool. I think FSU brass is getting frustrated with this song and dance after every season.

If Fisher does leave for A&M (which would be absurd but the $ they're supposedly offering is elite), I think FSU would be able to nab Frost from UCF. The UF job isn't appealing for a lotof the reasons the FSU job is appealing. FSU has a full cupboard, a good QB for next year, the ACC is set-up well for success......not things you could've said about the UF job.

Then Nebraska better move quickly on Frost. I agree FSU is a better job, but Nebraska is Frost's alma mater and if they come strong right now he could take the Cornhusker job.

Do not disagree at all....FSU will have to figure out if they cave to Fisher again, or step up to plate with Frost.

I don't think there is much of a comparison in terms of what is the better job. I think UF was a trap, in that going 8-4 several straight years steals his luster, and then next job is a step back. At Nebraska, glingb8-4 consistently, keeps his prestige high and allows him to take another step if he wants, or he just keeps it rolling at Nebraska.

FSU allows him to start competing for titles as early as next year, in a conference he should be able to challenge for every single year.

I'm an OSU fan first, but an FSU graduate, and I actually kind of hope Fisher moves on and they are able to convince Frost to Tallahassee. Fisher's constant re-negotiations are painful.....he had a 6-6 year and his agent is asking for another raise....

I'm actually surprised to hear this. Yeah this year was awful but Jimbo has accomplished a hell of a lot in a short amount of time. He's a top 10 coach in CFB. I like Frost but he hasn't done shit yet. The grass isn't always greener. It's always worth it to pay to keep a top 10 coach. Just my .02

Fisher WILL ALWAYS be linked to new jobs year after year, and his agent is a pain in the ass.

Frost is going to be a great coach wherever he goes. Former Heisman QB, played multiple years in NFL on defensive side of ball as a safety, has coached on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball as a college coach.

Rose quickly through the Chip Kelly tree to OC, and Helfrich basically sucked as soon as Frost left....I don't think that fall was coincidental.

I like Frost....a lot. I got in debates with people 3 years ago when I said Mike Riley was an awful choice over Frost who was an OC at the time. People said there is no way Nebraska should hire a guy without HC experience......

Well now Nebraska is going to be in a bidding war with more prestigious schools because they were incapable of stepping outside the box the first go-around.

ABC News in Houston is reporting the Fisher to A&M deal is done....

5 years, starting at $7.5M a year.

Either they've got good sources or they're going to look really stupid. Haven't seen confirmed elsewhere yet....

Then give the man what he wants. I understand it's annoying but you don't let a top 10 coach walk because his agent is annoying.

Again, I like Frost too but he's proven nothing. Jimbo is an established great coach. Unlike Mike Riley who was a horrible hire and everyone knew it except Nebraska apparently.

So you're letting a top 10 coach walk over a couple million dollars that he has and would have continued earning 100 times over for the university. And now you're in a bidding war for an unproven guy in Frost with his alma mater that is also a historically better program (Nebraska). It just seems insane to me. Also, Jimbo is an idiot if he leaves FSU for TAMU just for a little extra money, don't get me wrong. But FSU would be even dumber for not paying him.
