2017 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Me too considering nobody on this team can cover a TE and that's all Wiscy throws to when they pass. I honestly think we need a scheme change. Because if these LBs play like they have all season (extremely shitty), we will lose.
Should be an easy fix, at least for this week. With how much man we run, just move the safety up and have them man up on the TEs. Probably want a safety closer to the LOS anyways. I know neither of our current safeties is Malik Hooker, but I trust our safeties enough, and I trust our corners to stay with their WRs.

I think most general fans would be okay with it -- because it'd be Alabama that was getting left out. If it was any other school the pitchforks would be out. But people won't care if it's Alabama getting the short end of the stick.
I think in the initial reaction to the Iron Bowl, a lot people were thinking OSU > Bama for the 4th spot if it came to that. But since the dust settled, and people remembered that we lost by 30 to Iowa, I think more people are starting to lean Alabama, and I think that is how it will play out.

Alabama has played 1 great team this year, and they got beat by 2 scores. They "got the job done" on the road against Miss State and beat up on 3 loss LSU (who lost to Troy and got worked by Miss State 37-7). Look, I want OSU to sneak in, although I am not optimistic they do. If we beat Wisconsin but don't make it, we only have ourselves to blame for that Iowa performance. BUT, if we don't make it, I really don't think Alabama should.

Here's the thing: if we blow out Wisconsin, they'll say Wisconsin played nobody but us and they weren't good. If we barely beat them, then it's OSU wasn't markedly better than Wisconsin. I think we need so much help.

Welp, the SEC love is real by this committee. 2 loss Auburn over Oklahoma. Alabama is ahead Georgia which contradicts everything the committee had done a few weeks ago when both were undefeated. Mississippi State just lost to Ole Miss at home and is still ranked. And the committee low key even snuck Fresno State (a team Alabama beat) into the top 25. I’m far from a pessimist when it comes to Buckeye football... but I think we’re fucked given how these rankings look tonight.

Agree. Really can’t believe the SEC still has 50% of the top 6. Such horse shit.

Sneaking Fresno State in there is pathetic. Guess we need to pull for Boise State now too.

I don't like Bama at 5 either.

Shit.

I just don’t get the love for Georgia. Never have. Their biggest win is against an overrated Notre Dame team.

Watched too much ESPN today on my day off. Russillo and Herbstreit on different shows both made the same contradiction about our week 2 loss. And it's all I hear anymore. "Auburn losing to Clemson is not the same Auburn as now" *literally 30 seconds later* "We can't bring OSU too high. They have that week 2 loss to Oklahoma"

What we should take away is wins vs highly ranked teams fucking matter. Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Ohio State does have a couple, especially if they beat Wisconsin, but not enough to overcome a 30 point loss to Iowa.

Auburn being 2 with 2 losses is a little lol but they are clearly a very strong team. Beating Georgia and Alabama like that is the most impressive duo of wins by any of these teams.

If the Vegas favorites win out this weekend, meaning we beat Wisconsin, it will be down to us and Bama for 4. That's the argument and talk they want to have all the way through January. Saban vs Meyer for #4. Resume wise I still say ours is better. Including the Iowa loss. Bama's wins are crazy overrated. An injured QB at Florida State week 1, barely beating Miss. St. Getting manhandled by Auburn. And we'd have a conference championship.

So root for the favorites and watch the Saban v Meyer madness ensue for #4.

Yea those rankings aren't promising at all. We have to blow them out and even then I'm not sure. Anything short of that, and we aren't jumping Alabama.

If that was the only loss OSU had they'd be in this shit.

It'd be so shitty to win the Big 10 but also give Alabama a playoff birth at the same time.

This was just posted by Stewart Mandel on Twitter

“Worth noting: Fresno State is No. 56 on Sagarin.

No other committee Top 25 team is lower than 29th.”

I will say, it would be hard for the committee to ignore having 3 wins better than Bama's best win. And a conference title.
