The CFP is a great concept, but it needs tweaked somehow. UCF shouldn't have been left out. An all-SEC championship is horrible, especially since Alabama lost to the team that lost in the conference championship who just lost to UCF.
Ohio State or Wisconsin deserved a shot. Alabama, despite this win, shouldn't have been in in the first place. UCF could literally be the best team in the country for all we know, but they won't get a shot because they're not in a P5 conference.
Going to compare apples to pears.
In College Basketball, in it's Championship game? That's happened like..."once" in recent, modern memory.
1985 with 'Nova and Georgetown. You look back at that though and it was truly special. 'Nova was an 8 seed, and Georgetown was a 1 seed with John Thompson as coach, Patrick Ewing as his player.
It seemingly happened organically though. It wasn't forced.
Same could be said about the NFL. We all know the tales of some random ass wildcard team getting a horse shoe up their ass and taking home the Super Bowl in spite of not even winning their division. We've seen it.
And really? That's the sort of balance that needs to be pulled off.
Would anyone here really be as pissed off if...Alabama had been some sort of wildcard team in an 8-12-16 team playoff? No. But if you're going to do this sort of 4 team thing? The critera has to be insanely "tight".
It's got to be two basic things
1. undefeated teams (PERIOD) eat first. I don't give a shit if you're Akron or Ohio State.
2. conference champions with the best SOS get in.
That's it. 'Bama should have never gotten in.
