2017 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Both winning out, we'd jump Oklahoma. Clemson, I see nothing to support putting them at 4 besides name recognition from last year. ND has a few tough games left so if they win out they walk in. This is setting up to make the final week about keeping the SEC loser in or putting us at #4.

I don't see how we jump Oklahoma. They still have Oklahoma State, TCU, and most likely Iowa State left on their schedule. No way they are gonna ignore their win in Columbus and jump us over them w/o them losing.

The other issue lurking is Miami. If they manage to win out, with all of their toughest games coming up, they could and probably would hop a few teams.

I don't think they will win out, mind you, but it's out there.

Well if Miami wins out, it eliminates Clemson. Nobody behind us is really a concern. Well, except for PSU & Wisky. We want them to keep winning.

But it could simultaneously jump them over us. So while Clemson would fall out, their void could, potentially, be filled by a team that isn't us, leaving us in the same spot as if Clemson hadn't fallen out. Meaning we'd need another way in.

We need Oklahoma to lose. That's the big thing. We aren't hopping over them if they win out with potentially 3 top 15 teams remaining on their schedule.

As far as teams losing, I agree this is the most important thing. We want Oklahoma to lose one more game. Thankfully, their remaining schedule is tough. @ Okie State, TCU, WVU, and Big 12 title game. I think it's very likely they drop one of those games.

I just want to beat Iowa.

Trap fap fap game

If Miami doesn't gag on a big one vs VT, that ND-Miami is a hell of a game.

We make this more complicated than it should be every year.

OSU wins out, they are in. That simple.

I think it is fun to think about and talk about. But, ultimately, this is a pretty accurate statement. There are scenarios where OSU could win out and be excluded. They've been discussed. But, the chances are remote. So, I will just enjoy watching the football.

My thoughts almost to a T. The scenarios where OSU could be excluded are, critically, out of our control. What OSU can control is winning out. That said, I need to know who to root for because I definitely thought we'd be ranked a little higher! It sounds like root against Oklahoma. Miami isn't winning out, so whatever.

We do need a little help here. And it wouldn't hurt to crush teams, starting this weekend.

Well, obviously, Oklahoma losing a game would help OSU the most. That said, we don't want them to free fall either. Ideally, the Sooners end the season with two losses. ND losing would help also since they have some good wins already and would have more if they run the table. I see no way a one loss ND is excluded from the playoff.

You could also root for Auburn to beat Georgia and Alabama. That would prevent two SEC teams from making a playoff.

As for the ACC teams, a Clemson loss would help. Miami beating ND would be ideal since it would free up a spot for OSU. The big thing working in OSU's favor is that the Pac 12 is out. So, there is room for the other 4 conference winners as long as ND doesn't get in or there are two teams from the same conference. In that case, someone will get squeezed.

And honestly, if Oklahoma loses the Big 12 is pretty much out too. They'll be screwed. The only reason Oklahoma is as high as they are is because they beat us. NONE of those other Big 12 teams are going to jump us, Clemson, or Notre Dame.

As far as team's losing, Oklahoma is definitely the #1 priority. The H2H is just a killshot on their resume that no other team has against us.

So obviously everyone above us should lose, and in the UGA/Bama game, we would prefer something decisive either way. I just feel like the way that it's slotted, if Okla wins out and we do too, they might be in.

But every year there are many awesome teams that still end up losing games. It happened to us, it happened to Clemson, and it'll surely happen again to one of these teams, hopefully not the Buckeyes!

Oh, no doubt. There is so much football to be played. I could even see a scenario where both OSU and Oklahoma get in there. Wouldn't it be something to have a rematch with them?
