2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, there's no evidence at all that Joe is retiring. He could be ice fishing on the lakes of Wisconsin but instead he is at the Browns facility coaching up Drango and the other young guys.

His tendon came off at the bone, so the recovery will be a slow process. I don't believe it's likely that it is threatening his career though.

I didn't catch the game yesterday but Drango has at least looked serviceable overall, was that the case yesterday?

No. He was getting cooked yesterday. Like he may as well have not been on the field on a few of the plays, particularly the sack/fumble/TD in the endzone.

Yeah, I'd be pretty mad about that. Unless there's some elite FS we could sign that I'm unaware of.

Do we really need a top pick OT this season? I feel like we can put that off another year.

We have 3 2nd rounders...if one looks good...grab him with one of those picks. Particularly if they are out of Wisconsin or Iowa.

Offensive line takes a lot of time to develop out of college. When Drango played in Baylor's system, he didn't put his hand on the ground in a three point stance his entire college career. NFL expectations for the tackle position isn't just adjusting to bigger, faster and stronger opponents. That is why teams who run a pro style offense at the college level often produce such great 1st round prospects while not necessarily putting up the most impressive stats.

When you're tempted to post reasons the Browns should invest a 1st rounder on a backup next year at offensive line, realize how Ray Farmer that sounds.

Gotta replace Shaun Coleman. Preferably via free agency.

Coleman has had the 3rd most flags in the NFL thrown against him. 13 in total, 9 of which were for holding. The kid cannot play the outside. He's probably destined to be an interior lineman where he doesnt have to move as much.

Drango looks exactly like what he is. A 5th round pick better suited to be a backup.

He's fine on the plays where there isn't an urgent pass-rush. Drango regularly gets beat in crucial moments when the other team needs the pass-rush the most. It's been clear from the start with him; can't place the blame solely on Kizer's timing/awareness.

The Browns have a lot of young linemen. Again, people bristled at Dorsey saying "This team needs more football players" but young projects in their second year are still learning the Xs and Os, still learning their technique. Ups and downs shouldn't be a surprise. So, I am hopeful some of the young OL depth will continue to develop, but I don't believe we have seen the best of Coleman or Drango yet.

Offensive linemen are the only position the Browns can actually sign quality free agents. We shouldn't be spending top picks on them. We aren't going to be getting playmakers via free agency. They rarely hit free agency anyways, and even if they do, they aren't coming to Cleveland. I will be furious if we draft an OLineman early this year. If Joe Thomas comes back, you already have 4 good/quality Olinemen as it is anyways. Sign a solid RT in free agency and be done with it.

One veteran offensive tackle in free agency would at least push Drango, Coleman, and Rod Johnson (who might suck) to battle for their job. It would also provide insurance for Thomas in his rehab. More youth just doesn't make sense, they have plenty of raw prospects on the offensive line, we just don't know if they will develop yet. I feel like Browns fans loved the idea of a youth movement and cutting veterans to force young guys on the field in theory, but watching the mistakes they were bound to make proved too difficult to stomach.

We need veterans, as the argument that supposedly I lost against Los the other day stated. We have the youngest team in age by over a year and our experience overall, we are like almost 2-3 years younger that way. We need veterans on this roster. I wouldn't be scared to sign veterans to compete with the young guys. If they don't win the job then so be it. 18 is the season we win the world series and see the Browns in the playoffs. That's all that matters!!

Read an article (forget which it was or else I would post it) saying we are probably going to go in with at least 1 big splash, most likely 2. I feel we should go with 1 major splash (BIG $$$$), a handful of cannon balls (above avg. $$$), and finish it off with some flutter kicks (insurance buys $$).

Vets are coming to this team w/o a doubt.
