2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cain doesn't impress me a whole lot. Need to watch that SMU/TCU game sometime this weekend to get a look at Sutton.

Anthony Miller in the third round is going to be a steal for someone.

How do you feel about a Keenan McCardell comparison?

Josh Allen though...

Has Ronald Jones solidified himself as a 1st round talent? He's just ridiculously explosive and now he's powering through tackles to boot.

Josh Allen hype was weird. Never understood it at all.

Lamar Jackson?

Not looking strong tonight, but the Clemson D is legit and Lamar is 75% of the teams offense.

I am not hugely high on Lamar, throws too many jump balls, but his arm talent is legit and he can fly on the ground too.

Lamar Jackson?
It's really hard to judge. He's all by himself out there meanwhile Clemson looks like the best team in the country.

I can't even imagine what Lamar would look like playing on Clemson or another elite team.

It looks like LJ is playing faster than his receivers. They aren't on the same page. Even on that TD he just threw it was almost like he had to slow himself down the throw it. He's shifty af when he's running though. He knows how to find creases.

Maybe I'm just stubborn from my read on him in 2015, but as a freshman, Lamar Jackson openly admitted to often not even knowing what down it was. The DOWN.

His high school didn't even have a playbook.

He also openly admitted to having no idea what was supposed to happen on half the plays he was calling his freshman year. He just got by on athleticism. He's an elusive runner, I admit.

So sure, we can talk about him as a physical freak. He did improve last season, but I think he's more of a runner who gets by on being faster than almost everyone else. He still needs to improve as a passer and throwing with anticipation.

I am fully unconvinced that he has enough between the ears to pick up an NFL playbook, recognize defenses, and set protections. Ever.

That's ok--not everyone is suited for it. Pro QB is one of the toughest positions in sports. People with great talent fail frequently. Peyton Manning extended his career by playing chess when everyone else played checkers.

Someone may draft him in the first round. I just wouldn't want it to be my team.

I think he's a WR at the next level. Now, I do think this could be a very successful transition for him. He's a big play waiting to happen in space.

He is absolutely not a WR at the next level. Not only has he never played the position, we have no idea if he can do it with ANY effectiveness.

He still has NFL QB tools. Jmo.

How anybody can watch week 1 in the NFL this season and then think Lamar Jackson can't play QB in the league? Stop overthinking this. Not only is he a QB, he has the potential to be a very good one.

Gosh I swear for as much as people make fun of the Bill Polian's of the world some opinions on draft prospects sound like they are coming out of a 1970s scouting room.
