2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'll try.

Rosen is best in the pocket in the class. When the pocket is clean, he can pick you apart and will crush your soul.

Darnold thrives in the chaos of the pocket. He can survive the immense pressure and make a tremendous play.

Rosen isn't the best when the pocket breaks down and Darnold gets ants in his pants in clean pockets. But you tell me which is easier to teach? Or which do you think NFL coaches think is the easier one to fix?

It's why Darnold, IMO, will and should be the pick. Provided we can keep him off the field for a while.

Darnold from the pocket, under pressure (2017):

0 TD, 7 INT

Chosen Rosen is the Browns token, stop the commotion and get this shit in motion, 0 Tds, 7 ints the stats have spoken, fuck this pick up you're in line for a demotion or even tossed in the ocean

>Thrives in chaos

So, here's the thing.

Originally, the Browns were "All over Mayfield." Dorsey talked him up, made some remarks about watching him live. Talked about legends who were great despite being around 6'0 tall. He defended his personality at the Senior Bowl. He called him a leader. Described him essentially when talking about the qualities he wants in a quarterback. Scot McCloughan comes in--more smoke about it.

Meanwhile, it was leaked after the Senior Bowl that "The Browns are enamored with Josh Allen." This narrative was pushed. The big kid with the big arm slingin' the pigskin on the shores of Erie.

Then, the Browns "love" Sam Darnold. Everyone says he's the pick. They'd be surprised if he wasn't based on what they are hearing. For show, Dorsey is bringing his entire coaching staff, his entire front office, and the janitor to come watch him at his pro day. They WANT this out there. "Hearing" from whom? Someone's putting that out there.

Meanwhile, not a peep on Rosen. The only peep we've heard was Dorsey saying "I'll talk to him man to man" regarding their perceived negative comments about each other/the organization. That's it. Nothing else. No links anywhere.

Then, of course, there was this cryptic Twitter exchange on March 7th...

Meanwhile, they skip Rosen's Pro Day (for justifiable FA reasons).

From my experiences, it feels like it's always the non-leaked quiet news that actually happens.

I would not be surprised at all if Rosen is #1 on the Big Board and Dorsey's been trying to muddy it all along. He likely already has the private workout set up.

There is zero benefit to letting the teams behind you know who you are picking. Perhaps, the Giants would trade out or not trade out if they think you are taking Rosen and you don't want them armed with that information in advance. Likewise, it could have affected the Jets ability to come up for either 2 or 3.

For example, if the Giants love Rosen... and they find out we want him, they may have traded with the Jets. Then Buffalo comes up at 3. Then, at 4, we are left with less suitors to deal out. Or, alternately, there's no guarantee a top positional player is there at 4. I like us being vague.

Want to get the tenor of the board/fans in general with this poll. It basically asks you to rate the main options at #1 and #4. Didn't want to clutter the board with yet another thread about prospects so it's using Google:

If it gets a decent response I'll post the final results in a bit. Feel free to share around.

I like the idea

Hopefully it gets a good response. I think the most polarizing guy is probably going to end up being Nelson or Barkley

Doing the mock, I’m starting to see an interesting trend toward the end of the first round when it comes to Derrius Guice.

17. Los Angeles Chargers - Melvin Gordon, not taking Guice

18. Seattle Seahawks - Potentially, but high on Carson and they have much bigger needs (OL, DL, CB)

19. Dallas Cowboys - Zeke, not taking him

20. Detroit Lions - Potential landing spot, but bigger needs and doesn’t fit what they like to do. Ronald Jones or Michel fit the bill better if they go RB.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Just drafted Mixon, love Gio

22. Buffalo Bills - Likely will trade pick, potential spot but they have Shady. I doubt they take a first round back.

23. Los Angeles Rams - Gurley, moving on.

24. Carolina Panthers - Lost Stewart but drafted McCaffery high first last year. Depends how they view him. Bigger needs, though. Can find a short yardage back far cheaper.

25. Tennessee Titans - Bigger Needs, need more of a 3rd down back to complement Henry.

26. Atlanta Falcons - Not in RB market

27. New Orleans Saints - Not in RB market

28. Pittsburgh Steelers - I doubt they invest a 1st in a RB with LeVeon on the team for one more season. Middle rounds, more likely.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars - Fournette, not in market.

30. Minnesota Vikings - Cook, not in RB market.

31. New England Patriots - Refuse to believe Bill takes a first round rusher with the way he recycles them.

32. Philadelphia Eagles - Crowded RB room and dealt for Ajayi

33. Browns - Here we go.

Initially, I always thought Guice is too good to fall out of round one. Zero chance of it happening.

However, if he falls past the Ravens at #16, I think there’s actually a very good chance he’s there for us at #33. That would be incredible.

I only count two teams that I’d consider a real threat to draft him—and both have bigger needs.

1) Rosen/Darnold
4) Chubb/Ward
33) Guice

That would be a pretty remarkable haul.

I'll try to make sense of it...

"Thrives in leading the country in turnovers during chaos"

Did I win?

Interesting. Didn't realize exactly how I felt until I saw your poll. I ended up preferring both Chubb and Nelson to Fitzpatrick, who had been my favorite all along.

I love the idea of getting a dominant edge rusher in Chubb at 4, but does he deserved to be picked up that high, or is he getting pushed up by a mediocre edge rusher class? Apologies if this has been covered already, I just haven't studied breakdowns on him much and I've heard/read some slightly mixed things.

He’s really, really good.

Minkah is a good player, but him and Ward are a clear notch behind Chubb and Nelson if we go the BPA route.

If you are a BPA guy especially at the top of the draft, you go Chubb or Nelson and dont think twice at 4.

Personally I am ok with Chubb, Nelson, Minkah or Ward. Trading back even to 12 wouldnt upset me as DT is a need there should be a very good player sitting there at 12 with 4 QB's at least being one already at that point. Da'Ron Payne is going under some peoples radars and should be a disruptive force in a 4-3 front.
