2019 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
First of all, while Mitchell was great this year, they need a long term running mate for Ward.

Second, Ogbah has been fine since he is starting to get healthy. His last game was awesome. We need rotation guys.

Third, you are dead on with IDL and WR. But corner needs to be thrown in there as well. And OT.

This is supposed to be the best OL crop in a decade, but I'm a little nervous about the potential LT group. I see a lot of great blockers who are about 6'5 about 310 and don't have particularly long arms. Those sound like right tackles and guards to me. I hope Harrison works out but we still need to look at RT later in the draft.

Speaking of a running mate for Ward: does the top 10 look too high for Byron Murphy right now? Looks pretty fluid and seems to have good ball tracking skills.

I think this squad is ultimately poised for 7-12 right now.

This is actually refreshing; I’m still excited to watch them play and draft talk isn’t depressing.

I'd happily take Murphy but he is a redshirt sophomore. Let's see if he declares. He's comfortably in the top three corner conversation.

Replace Ogbah??

Ogbah seems more like a good rotational guy than a true every down player opposite Garrett.

Every time I watch him, he takes a lot of plays off and it blows my mind. Want to see them get a guy who can really get to the QB opposite Myles.

It’s been 6 games and Ogbah has 1.5 sacks it’s just not good enough.

He’s only played in about 4.5 games and was coming back from injury.

Hasn’t he been being grading out pretty well?

All that matters is sacks

Gotta replace him

Being the NFL leader for pass deflections amongst defensive linemen means nothing and he must be eliminated

That’s fine but I’m not content with the pressure we’ve generated.

I’m also not content with watching him take plays off, especially on 3rd downs when we should be trying to get after th QB.

I don’t know what the fuck your deal is with the condescending shit you post every single time I say something at this point. Just disagree, State your point and move on man.

He’s coming off an injury.

I find it odd that with all the bigger holes on this team your point of priority is replacing Ogbah

In the past he has been very solid at setting the edge, he has shown a knack for getting his hands up and ruining the passing attempt if he can’t get to the QB in time, and he has shown pass rushing ability in the past

He’s also still young and cheap. Even if he taps out at a 7 sack guy who can disrupt passing lanes and provide stout run defense, that’s a quality player and not one that needs replaced

We honestly can’t have superstars at every position, that’s just not how the nfl is built.

If this were pre-free agency, pre-salary cap?

Sure. Paul Brown-era Browns, 70's Steelers, 80's 49ers, 90's Bills, 90's Cowboys all were able to pull it off.

Ain't that anymore.

The two most valuable assets a team can have are as follows.
1.) A Front Office that remains consistent unchanged for decades. (Steelers, Patriots, Packers, Ravens, Eagles)
2.) A "All-Pro'"/Franchise QB (Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, That rapist over in the Alleghenies)

The first part pretty much acts in a role of finding hidden gems that not many can pick out. Some random corner back you found from Wabash College in the 7th round that winds up becoming a starting all-pro CB.

The 2nd part acts as the "closer" in any given game. Also allows you to mas any sort of talent deficiencies you might have. (Manning with the Colts comes to mind)

But yeah. If you find those two? Hang onto both for dear life.

So I think it’s very important for a defense to have two very good to elite pass rushing players.

I don’t think Ogbah is that, and I think it holds back the defense.

The defense does have two good to elite pass rushing players.

Myles Garrett (22 pressures) and Genard Avery (16 pressures).*

Ogunjobi also has 24, t-5th among interior defensive lineman.

*Before TB game

Before we talk about replacing Ogbah, I'd rather improve our LB core, OL & WRs.
