2023-24 Season | Game #16 | Lakers @ Cavs | Nov. 25, 2023 | 7:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Trade seems coming
And then what happens when Darius Garland goes down AGAIN. We can't afford to move a key player. Only thing you can do is move the scraps like Wade or Rubio.

It wouldn’t have been the last one. He had 2.

You call timeout, draw up a set for a look to tie or take the lead. Lakers ball, and they likely call a TO of their own.

If the Lakers score, you have your last TO to advance the ball and draw up a game winner. This is high school JV level stuff.

The Lakers were able to set their defense anyway because that rebound didn’t come in a situation that allowed the Cavs to run in transition. There were bodies all over the place on both sides and the hall was recovered in the corner.
Didn’t realize it was two timeouts left.

Whether by calling a timeout or by slowing things down from the sidelines, I would have preferred a more quality looks than DM rushing headstrong for a two for one possession scenario in a one shot game

On the flip side, super encouraged again by Craig Porter. Also Mobley was really making plays late with his high post stuff. Doesn't mean there aren't mistakes, but I'm at a point that that's what I wanna see with this team.

Growth from young players. I'm beyond the whole "we gotta contend this year" thing.

I wanna see the team focus on the growth of Mobley, Porter, and Garland (when healthy......). And trades made to allow that growth to occur more naturally.

Porter was gonna be under 10 minutes tonight were it not for DG getting hurt.

So that's where were at with the coach and roster and you need to remove those impediments from the equation going forward.

I wasn’t convinced the whole Mitchell wants out until those last 2 possessions. Those 2 shots screamed idgaf I’m checked out. Garland isn’t made of the right shit either but at least we’re stuck with him and he’s a proven all star caliper player when he runs the show. The coach has been a clown who should’ve been gone 2 years ago. But more than likely this is his last season here so it is what it is. They have to figure out the Allen/Mobley situation. They both lack skill, occupy the same space and are soft. Mobley is younger with more “potential “ but Allen actually can at least block some shots. After this season I’m getting a coach that can tie his own shoes, trade Mitchell and Allen/or Mobley and filling the team with versatile wings and letting Garland run the show. Either way we’re fucked but at least there’s hope that way

But it wasn't. They had to foul after the miss or the game was over.
The first missed floater was with 20-something seconds on the clock. The second one was with less time.

Niang was +10 this game, but I swear lakers were scoring easily when he played.

Have either one of our bigs ever not lost a bounce pass in the middle of traffic. I have never seen either one of them catch one.

I tried not be to reactionary, but we simply play a better brand of basketball without Don. JB isn’t that guy, but as long as he’s the coach, Mitchell compounds the issue.

There was far too much turning down 3s for 2s (that missed), and offensive sets for hero ball.
The bigs were more or less playing decent two-way ball (especially Allen with his passing).
After watching AD, that's what I want from Mobley. He'll probably never be AD's size, but an automatic mid-range option would kill.
LeVert, Strus (reminded me of Klay before the Grand Washing), CPJ (!!!!!!), and Niang (before going cold) were all solid to very good.

Giving up 16 early in the game made it more difficult.

I would rather trade the "hero ball" for another Strus-like player than I would either of the bigs.

Imagine if Steph Curry was labeled as the problem when Marc Jackson did this exact same crap with him.

Mitchell is way too talented and way too good to blame for his coach being unwilling to actually, you know, coach the team.

Ra Ra speeches and preaching about defense are valuable when your team is a bunch of dumb teenagers. We’re past that point. JB hasn’t grown with the players.

Now, if another voice comes in here and we see growth in everyone but Mitchell, by all means, ship him.

But we’ve seen nothing creative for Garland. Very rigid use of Allen. A simple “here ya go” approach with involving Mobley through isolations.

There is more evidence that this is how Mitchell is expected to play than to the contrary.

Problem with this take is the team actually plays better and looks more cohesive without Donovan, at least for this season.

Alpha scorer has a guy one on one and gets to a spot he loves. Don’t see what you’re talking about.

No play was called. No point guard is on the floor. This is the type of shit you’ll see as a result.

Every single top score-first player in the league takes those shots.

Might as well get Mobley more looks and work on his development a bit more in-game.

DG and DM are not going to last and 82 game season doing the majority of the work out there.
