2023-24 Season | Game #38 | Bulls @ Cavs | Jan. 15, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Strus does a lot of things I love. But his shot needs to come back sooner rather than later.

And I understand this offense right now isn't tailor-made for movement shooters. So he's suffering with the rest of them.

But still.
There are only a few guys who are virtually slump-proof (Sam may be one). Strus is like most good shooters and blows hot and cold.

I like Dean Wade. Always have.

It’s not controversial to say it wasn’t a great first three quarters and that when plugging in Evan Mobley at 32 minutess per game upon his return, some combo of Wade, Niang, and TT are going to play less.

Niang had an ass second half, but also drilled three 3P in the first half.

Pretty much everybody in this roster is functionally playable except Damion Jones, and 11-13 man rotations aren’t really a thing so when EM and DG get back, gonna see less of some guys and it will be interesting to see how it plays out

Criticized when he doesn’t shoot enough and criticized when he does shoot it. If you watch a game for more than points scored you’ll see the defense and rebounding and playing with his teammates.

His minutes should be peeled back to 24-28mpg, more consistent with his usage in MIA. He runs around so hard and so much and JBB is playing him 6 more minutes per game then his previous high. Merrill’s skillset and emergence allows that without question

Individual stats:

Okoro 7-5-1 in 25 minutes Only 3-12 fg
Wade 12-7-3 with 3 steals in 26 minutes. 4-10 fg and from 3. I'll take it! He was key in the 4th
Allen 10-4-3 2 steal 2 blocks in 34 minutes 4-5 fg. He should have gotten some of Okoro's shots.
Strus 2-5-4 with a block in 35 minutes 1-8 fg, 0-6 from 3. I'd say his knee isn't 100%
Mitchell 34-3-7 with 2 steals 11-21 fg, 4-10 from 3 in 36 minutes

Bench: 44-14-10 in 30 minutes.
LeVert 16-7-7 with a block in 30 minutes
Niang 9-2-0 in 18 minutes. 3-9 from 3.
Merrill 15-3-2 with 2 steals in 20 minutes 5-7 fg, 4-6 from 3 Very key off the bench
Thompson 4-2-1 in 14 minutes

I don't think we can trade LeVert. He's perfect for our team: a combo guard small forward who can play 1-3. He's become too consistent off our bench to replace.

He also has 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists. Many of you place too much on taking shots, and making every single one. He's a good percentage 3 point shooter. And usually stays in that neighborhood.
Okoro has a higher 3P% each of the last two years than Wade and is dead even (35.8% vs. 35.9%) with Okoro over the last 3 years..

Problem with Dean is he can be a good shooter but he's highly inconsistent..

I know we all want him to be better than he is, because he has shown it at times, but fact of the matter is he's a slight above average shooter who at times is gun shy.. He's hovered around 35-36% the last 4 years and is a career 36% shooter..

I wish it wasn't the case because his skillset is largely one they need..

Aggressive Deaner is pretty much the player everyone wants us to trade for. Just want him putting up shots. He's such a + player if he just freaking shoots the ball.

If he shoots 35-36% at volume that is good enough. Teams have to take him into account to space the floor. Doesn't matter how good he shoots if he doesn't put them up.

Dean needs to remember this game. Even if you are 1-7 you have to keep shooting. If he goes into a shell and passes on those big makes, this might have been a lot tighter down the stretch

We're in 4th place waiting for two of our our starters to return. We have a 5 game winning streak, but we play Milwaukee 3 times. If we win one of those, I'll be happy. (2 on the road). If we win 2, I'll be ecstatic.
