2023-24 Season | Game #38 | Bulls @ Cavs | Jan. 15, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm also ok with Dean going all the way to the rim when his pump fake sends a defender flying. He doesn't have to always dribble just to pass.

Regardless of how much Dean shoots, the team just plays very good team ball on both ends of the floor when he is in the game. BTW, a style of ball that it seems you all enjoy watching. It's always been his style. Even in high school. He could destroy a double team all by himself, but he was a team player first. You double team him, he was going to give it up for the easy two. He knows team ball wins. 25-11 in his starts the past two seasons. Most teams would kill for that win percentage. It's becoming too regular of a thing to call it inexplainable or flukish. The kid just know what needs to be done to win games.

Hard to believe the NBA power rankings today had us ranked 16th. Not getting credit for beating up on some bad teams and not getting credit for doing it while down 2 starters.

WGAF about anyone’s “power rankings.”

CBS Sports power rankings are only for the WEEK, not the season. Like that means anything.

  • The Cavs bench had 19 1Q points, including 3 three-pointers by Georges Niang. On the night, they put up 41 bench points with Caris LeVert (16pts) and Sam Merrill (15pts) leading the way. The 41 points was the 9th highest bench point total on the year with 6 of those top 9 performances coming within the last 8 games. So yeah, the bench is producing.

Cavs gave up a lead that had at one point been 20, only to win the game by 18.

Now those are the Cavalanche Cavs I remember.

The Cavs coughed up a 20-point lead and were down 81-80 before turning on the jets and outscoring the Bulls 29-10 the rest of the way. Beautiful.

LeVert made back-to-back 3's to get it going and then Mitchell and Dean Wade followed suit. The defense clamped down and allowed 10 points in the last 10 minutes.

DeRo had 6 points in 38 minutes. He was obviously tired playing his third game in four nights.

I pointed out the Bulls' opponents take more 3's than anybody and the Cavs jacked up 57 tonight. Okoro and Strus combined to go 1-for-12 or this would have been a laugher.

Strus was questionable and although he played he clearly is not 100%. He went 1-for-8 in 35 minutes. Allen was a +32 in 34 minutes. Crazy. He was forcing a ton of missed shots along with the 5 offensive rebounds.

The Cavs forced 18 turnovers and held the Bulls to 42% overall and 28% on 3's, although the Bulls missed a lot of uncontested 3's.

LeVert had another nice line off the bench at 16/7/7. Merrill had 15 points in 20 minutes on just 7 field goal attempts. Impressive.

Here’s a fun stat

Every Cavs player that attempted a 3P attempted at least 6

6 3PA - Okoro, Strus, Merrill
9 3PA - Niang
10 3PA - Wade, LeVert, Mitchell

Overall percentage wasn’t even that great (35.1) but at that volume, they made 20 for a +33 in points from 3P

He also has 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists. Many of you place too much on taking shots, and making every single one. He's a good percentage 3 point shooter. And usually stays in that neighborhood.
Its not making the shots, Dean is about a 38% shooter. Its his all around game PLUS TAKING shots.

He will never have the gravity of DM or Struss or Merrill, but taking them when open gives spacing.

Criticized when he doesn’t shoot enough and criticized when he does shoot it. If you watch a game for more than points scored you’ll see the defense and rebounding and playing with his teammates.

I wasnt mad at Dean for the 1-7, he was taking the open shot. None were bad shots. Hard defense, rebounding and steals. They will fall eventually, he is a good shooter.

I am only mad when he doesnt take the open shot unless its a pass to a more open teammate, but often, its not the case.

But lately Dean has had confidence, which is great, part of the reason we are winning, but Insano Allen has been nice too, lol
