2023 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Some good data points here--

Guys that continue to make a lot of sense for what the Browns look for:

Zach Harrison
Isaiah McGuire
Derrick Hall
Tuli Tuipulotu
Keeanu Benton
Moro Ojomo
Noah Sewell
Marvin Mims
Jonathan Mingo

If they could come out of the 3rd and 4th with an EDGE, iDL, WR and LB from this group I'd have to say it would be a great draft..

Supposedly Moro Ojomo was 16 when he enrolled in college, making him 21 years old as a redshirt senior. Being an NBA fan as long as I have... I have to wonder if his Nigerian birth certificate is accurate. If he really is 21, I bet Berry is interested in his production and age ratio.

Let's filter your list down even more.

Due to positional value, we should have the linemen ahead of Sewell.

I think we should write off the receivers.... but I don't have a good reason why. I know that the front office highly values receivers. I just feel like our room is pretty crowded already, and unless a guy slips unexpectedly, it just doesn't make sense to draft one early (3rd, 4th rounds) with our limited resources.

Any idea where the following would fall?
  1. Siaki Ika
  2. Kobie Turner
  3. Gervon Dexter
  4. Byron Young (Alabama)
  5. Brodric Martin
  6. Jerrod Clark
  7. Jalen Redmond
  8. Desjuan Johnson
  9. Nesta Jade Silvera
I feel like Silvera, Desjuan, Redmond, Clark, Martin and Turner all get knocks for age, but Ika, Dexter and Young should be targets that I'd be interested to see stacked up against the three he shows.

I really like some of the videos Ive seen of BYU's WR Puka Nacua. The guy is a football player, as evidenced by siblings who played in the NFL. Here's the results of his pro day:

Puka Nacua

Bench Press: 15 reps

Vertical Jump: 33.0"

Long Jump: 10'1"

40-Yard Dash: 4.55 sec

The athletic testing is all around disappointing, but on the field he is aggressive and skilled. If the Browns are still looking for an offensive weapon in the fifth round on, I'd happily take Nacua as a special teamer with upside.

I think there's going to be some nice UDFA receivers this year.

I LOVE Nikko Remigio. If nothing else, he's locking down your PR and KR duties.

Mitchell Tinsley is 357 on PFF's big board and if you asked me who would have the better NFL career between him and David Bell it would be a coin flip. They're both big slots who get open, have really good hands and really good body control.

Xavier Smith isn't even on PFF's big board... people are going to have to start scouting and paying attention to HBCU's.
Puka, Jake Bobo, Keytaon Thompson, Matt Landers... a lot of guys are going to find themselves on NFL practice squads.

Think I’m getting to Harrison/McGuire/Tuli/Benton as ideal pick if any are there with their first 3rd rounder—

I like all of those players.

If Benton is there, I'll eat my shorts.

I'm not sure any of those guys make it to 74--and I think McGuire is the most likely to do so.

My ideal, semi-realistic pick at 74 is Andre Carter. I know there's no way he makes it there... but this edge class is so loaded that there's a chance. Watching him be able to attack from the wide 9 and just destroy opposing tackles in this Schwartz scheme would be a blast for me.

The thing that excites me the most about Tuli is how well he pairs with 007. Tuli can play DE on first and second down if we want, and then shift him inside on third down to rush the passer while we bring in a pass rush specialist like 007.

With our deficiency at 3-tech, this probably doesn't happen this year--but that sort of flexibility is sexy to me.

I'm all for any opportunity to trade down (or to shed dead weight like Schwartz) in order to accumulate more picks. I want us to come out of this draft with 4 new defensive linemen.

The late (200+ on PFF) guys I still fucking love:

Redmond- Ok, PFF moved him up to 171 on their big board. He's still someone I want in this draft. Redmond was at one time the #1 recruit in the country. He's since put on 60 pounds. He's no longer the light, athletic DE. He's now a bull in a china shop on the interior. He's had injury issues and his technique isn't great. He still likes to out-athlete guys, but there isn't a better ball of clay to mold in this class. His athletic gifts are first-round, and he is being mocked at the end of day 3. Give me that every day.

Desjuan Johnson- A monster with positional flexibility to play outside or inside. Local kid (Toledo) as well. More of a pass rusher than a stop the run guy.

Dylan Horton- He's only graded so low because he didn't really get an opportunity to rush the passer that often at TCU. They rushed 3 and dropped 8 regularly. I'm not sure why people who have McDonald in the first round have Horton as a late day 3 pick. To me, Horton can be a defensive end who holds up against the run, can rush the passer with power, and can build more pass rush technique off that initial power rush.

Nesta Jade Silvera- You want a penetrating 3-tech? You got one. Nesta is a bowling ball that just gets after the QB.

Ali Gaye and DJ Johnson are edges that I'm okay with. Neither impresses me, but they can be depth filler.

BJ Thompson is fun. He's only 210 pounds (at 6'6"!) so you can't expect him to hold up against the run... but he can rush the passer. And at 231 on the big board, that's worth a 7th round pick or a priority UDFA signing

Yaya Diaby stands out to me amongst that middle tier of pass rushers.

1.56 split and the burst on film likely pushes him into focus for the Browns, I think he's visited too (not that a visit means anything).

Seems like the perfect wide EDGE Schwartz would turn into a 10+ sack guy.

If you’re a believer in those things, Diaby is 23 and Carter is 22 which is a bit older than Berry typically likes to skew for early picks.. If they slide to Day 3, then it’s not as much of an issue..

Compounding the issue for Carter is a relatively middling RAS score (6.3) and 1.65 second 10-yard split.. Berry has tended to acquire guys who hit below the 1.62-1.61 10-yard split mark..

Meanwhile as AZ mentioned, Diaby’s 10-yard split is fantastic and finished with the #1 RAS score among all edge defenders in the draft..

To me, I like what Harrison and McGuire can bring with helping set the edge with what they have already in place.. Think they really lack a guy with size and strength…
