#52 DeShone Kizer

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Man some of you are so hard up for good QB play that you're willing to find a silver lining in anything.

Kizer was horrible yesterday. Terrible accuracy, no vision, no anticipation. The only reason he didn't throw any interceptions is because Hue has finally dialed everything way way back in an effort to be more competitive.

At least when the shackles were off, Kizer would hit a deep ball once every 8-10 passes or so.

You seem to forget a few things about Kizer. Like him being the youngest QB in the league. The third youngest in the last thirty years. Starting on an offense that is all but devoid of talent. Going to the NFL after a pretty sketchy at best stint at Notre Dame where he received pretty shitty training for the position at best.

Then you seem to expect him to exhibit competency of much more experienced guys whether they got that experience in the NFL, in superior winning college programs, or both.

Lots of knowledgeable people felt the kid should sit out the whole season up to this week but the Browns brain trust instead chose to ride with the kid from the outset against most conventional wisdom.

He finally makes it through a game without shooting his team in the balls, and all you can dwell on is the negatives.

I say no matter what this week was a step forward.

Yep, one step closer to the end of yet another miserable season of Cleveland Clowns football. Thank God.

We lose by 17 on a neutral field with our QB throwing for 5.3 yards per attempt and it's being considered progress?

Woof. The bar may have never been lower

Kizer finally makes it through a game without being benched. Yeah, I guess, that's progress.

Carson Wentz looks so good... :chuckle: Fuck, man.

Probably the most Browns moment ever. Not only did they pass on him. These fucking idiots felt the need to let it be known, he's not even a top-20 QB in the NFL.

Total fail.

Is this the worst trio of QBs ever assembled in NFL history?

I think Kizer has done about as well as possible. Sure he has made a lot of mistakes but he's also not getting any help. His best pass catcher is the back up running back. Thats laughable! He has no #1 or #2 WR. He's throwing to guys like Rashard Higgins (he was cut earlier in the year) Ricardo Stone Hands Louis, Bryce Treggs (new guy) Kasen Williams (new guy) Kenny Britt (no explanation needed), David Njoku (one of the youngest players in the entire NFL). How can you properly evaluate a qb who has to throw to that trash and also hasn't had much of a running game? That list of guys doesn't have the ability to make big plays or go catch a 50/50 ball. Watson throws a lot of balls up for grabs but his WR's go get it.

Get him some weapons on Offense and i bet his completion % rises to 60 - 65%.

As pointed out a few times he has literally been the worst rookie QB ever

About as well as possible!

He's also had the worst receiving group ever. I've seen plenty of throws that above average WR's would catch but our guys barely get hands on them. Kizer has missed plenty of open guys but i've also seen some of the worst route running ever. Fights to get open.

They recievers have not helped, but i am down making excuses for Kizer. He is inconsistent, even for a rookie, and not making quick reads.

Quite frankly he is showing the traits he made in college that made me want to stay away from him.

I do understand the concept of drafting a qb after other things are in place, but if we dont draft a qb or sign Cousins or another big name QB, then everyone should be fired and start again.

70% of the top qb's in this leage are top 10 picks. Brees, Brady, Warner, Wilson are the huge exceptions, not the norms.

I'm interested in seeing what this kid can do once he has Gordon and Coleman back on the field for the last few games of the year.

The coming week is the week that most football people thought should be Kizer's first game as a starter in the NFL, myself included.

Instead he was thrown directly into the fire by Hue and the powers that be. To be sure he has floundered badly, but my opinion is that is to be expected when you send a kid out there way before he's ready like we did.

Now he's coming off his first complete game in awhile, the first game where he hasn't thrown several back breaking interceptions. By the way, for those complaining about Kizer's "worst ever" QBR, isn't that a direct result of those red zone interceptions? Convert a few of these red zone picks into touchdowns and we'd have a few wins in the books, and Kizer's QBR would be much less of a disappointment.

So as far as I'm concerned, I'm hitting the reset button on the kid. He should have been holding a clipboard up until now but for better or worse he's gotten a ton of live reps he wouldn't have had otherwise. He's had a baby step forward by simply NOT completely fucking up for once. He's had a bye week off to decompress and digest the failures from the first half of the season. Maybe he'll even have someone to throw the ball to for a change?

Reboot, reset, wipe the slate clean and judge him based on what he does from now until the end of the season. That's where I'm at.

Seriously?

"If Kizer didn't do the things bad quarterbacks do, he wouldn't be bad!"
