Are they still talking trade and have stopped or have they been talking trade for this entire week ??

I believe they stopped, but they picked by up, according to this blog... Doubt anything happens.

For those of you that don't like to read my rumors...skip this post.

For the rest of you, this is what I have heard as of today: A three-way trade between Philly,New Jersey and Cleveland.

Cavs get:
Reggie Evans
Jason Kidd
Vince Carter
(They lose Larry Hughes,Damon Jones,Eric Snow and a #1 pick)

Nets get:
Larry Hughes
Andre Miller
Eric Snow
Cavs 1st round pick in 08, 2nd round pick in 2010
(They lose Carter and Kidd)

Philly gets:
Drew Gooden
Damon Jones
Ira Newble
Cedric Simmons
2009 second round pick
(They lose Miller and Evans)

I have heard three different versions of this deal, but the core players have remained the same each time. Drew to Philly, Miller and hughes to Nets and Carter and Kidd to Cleveland. This trade would actually make sense for all of the teams, but there seems to be draw-backs for everyone of them also. Seems to me that there are too many players for a single trade at the deadline for this to happen, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

PS: As for the supposed rumor of the Cavs making a deal with Houston: Apparently Houston is not interested.

Championship.....

Bwwahahahahahaha

Thats not a bad trade.. If you take out the Nets..

I just don't see how, nor why they would deal Carter AND Kidd... Let alone to an East team that plays them more than twice. New Jersey doesn't get much, but then again, they free up "some" space between Carter and Kidd's contract. Doubt it happens, but we can dream.

There is even more to this rumor than normal...

Supposedly, LeBron James wants Reggie Evans in Cleveland (and we already knows he wants Kidd). I think the thing that makes this deal not happen is Hughes...Duh. Yet, according to some of the people I have spoke to, there is a real possibility of this happening, or a different version of the same deal.

His field goal percentage is among the top half dozen guards in the game.

I know, I contradicted myself on that one...

And 16 points, six assists and four boards per game are awful?

No, they're not... What I meant to say was his shooting numbers, my bad... I should of been more specific...

Please find a Cavs guard who can approximate those numbers.

Gibson has 13 points, 3 assists and 3 boards per game...

Give him his due. He is an excellent passer who would excel setting up LBJ, Z and Gibson. Unlike Cavs guards he doesn't think an entry pass is a free ticket to the movies!

I'm not saying get him at any price. But he clearly would be an upgrade.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be an upgrade or isn't a good point guard...he is. I just don't know if he fits well in with our current roster... Now if you get a shooter at the SG spot who can defend the wing, then hell yeah I'd do it since he'd fit the team then, but with this current roster, he doesn't...

heath, isn't part of Kidd's "request" out of NJ to get away from VC?

The trade is fine for Philly, NJ just gets a terrible deal...

I know Reggie Evans has shown up with guys like Nene and JR Smith to play at LeBron's house or whatever other top secret place he choses when he's had his pick up games in the off seasons. I don't know if that's enough for LeBron to WANT to play with Reggie though. If there's another variation of this trade that has either Kidd or Carter not both maybe it may have a very minute chance of happening, but I can't see it happening with both of NJ's all stars.

You're likely right.

Maybe if Miller and Carter would come to Cleveland, that would actually make sense, structurally. As in giving the team a legit PG and a second scoring option. Option? Threat. And second only on this squad.

Otherwise, i thought the whole point was to
a) get the Cavs some guard help, preferably with shooting ability
b) Philly wants to get rid of Andre to rebuild with young talent, picks and expiring deals
c) Jersey may supposedly want to separate Carter and Kidd

and actually, swapping Carter for Hughes isn't so terrible for the Nets, who have Jefferson for a shooter, they can have Larry slash away, if his body will let him.

Miller
Carter
James
Varejao
Ilgauskas

bench: Evans, Gibson, Devin, whatever.

woot.

Well it works but...

I don't understand how it really helps New Jersey... I mean Hughes's contract is a year longer than Kidd's. I guess what it does do is get Carter's 5 year contract off the books and give them two expiring contracts next year for either cap relief or to start rebuiilding a new team, along with another first rounder.

You'd think Carter still has some value around the league and could minimally be moved for expirings and a pick. Why would anyone take Hughes and his injury problems if they could free up cap space and pursue a free-agent of their choice?

I'm actually not sure that's true. Look at what Philly got for Iverson. Or what the Raptors got for Carter. It's a big risk to take in a bad contract like that. Philly still had to take in Andre Miller's contract, and I believe the Raptors took in a few players as well, but don't quote me on that.

Oh the Raptors got a bunch of crappy contracts and some picks I believe, but they weren't long-term.

Miller has value and Philly needed a PG. He can always be traded again for more cap relief.

A team that can get under the salary cap might rather try their luck in the free-agent market. A bad team may rather try their luck with the draft. But there are always going to be desperate teams that are over the cap, but have some expirings, and need to make a big move.
