A closer look at Bradley Beal

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kyrie + Beal will be one of the best backcourts for (hopefully) the next decade

But Hollinger's rater doesn't have Beal that high:mad:

Really tho, I'm fine with that trade. No matter his work ethic, I was always skeptical of bringing in another forward who can't shoot. Though to be honest not long ago if I had been told the Cavs would trade up to #2, I would've thought it'd be for Gilchrist.

There's always a chance the Cavs move back into the 1st anyway. Maybe their two 2nds for Boston's latter pick or something. If they don't it's obv not a huge deal anyway (tho I really want them to get Miller :()

I'm fine with moving up for Beal if the Cavs' organization feels that he's going to be the best player and best fit for their team. I just hope that we can still move up to take another big-time player. If we could get Drummond with a second lottery pick, that would be excellent.

Not to push this even farther in to fantasy-land, but what if Portland is still super high on Beal - and this was all just a round about way to end up with them getting Beal at #2, the Bobcats get TRob/Barnes at #4, and when the smoke clears we get whoever it is we actually wanted all along at 6 and 11?

Danny Ferry was never afraid of trying to pull off some really complicated deals just to try to placate the interests of the other GMs.

Edit... I can't read

Probable draft order would be something like
1. Davis
2. Beal
3. MKG/Barnes
4. Trob
5. Barnes/MKG (Unless Barnes not working out for them moves them to Drummond...or *snicker* Henson

So I hope the Cavs like Drummond unless they're betting Barnes doesn't go 5

Giving away the 24th is a no-brainer to me. Especially since the Cavs are likely to package both second round picks for a late first anyways.

If Beal is their guy, then do it.

I wouldn't count TRob out at #3 to the Wiz if Beal was to go #2.

But yes, it would probably throw us back in to the Drummond/Rivers/Lamb/Waiters sort of discussions we were having last week.

Given how Drummond's draft stock has been falling, it would be a perfectly executed smokescreen.

You are correct, but Alonzo Gee shouldn't determine who we draft. (Not sure if you are saying that or not)

Absolutely not, the Cavs were going to target the player who most likely could be an All Star talent. If they feel Beal is that player, Gee sitting there as a RFA with some options is just fortunate for the franchise. Gee could force the team to sign him to a one year deal and become a UFA in 2013, or he could just be a lost asset. I was just pointing out the depth the Cavs have at SF over the barren SG position.

i would go so far as to state that it wouldn't even take that. if there's a team interested in moving back because they don't want a guaranteed contract, I don't know that they'd want two 2nd round rookies in camp either, and then possibly have a 3rd 2nd rounder if they have their own. sure they can draft and stash, but i don't know that taking that many guys in one year is all that desireable.

with cleveland having orlando's 2nd rounders coming up as well, the cavs may be more than willing to deal their own, or one of orlando's future 2nds in addition to a 2nd this year to get it done, and it might be more fitting for the trade partner. so, it lets cleveland bring in 3 guys this year, and not really mortgage future assets too much at all.

If this is the guy they really want, then, well, that's the reason they've got the extra assets I'd say; to be able to dictate the draft in the direction you want rather than sit there and take leftovers. (Not that MKG or Barnes or Drummond, etc., are "leftovers," but if we have Beal far and away the best long term piece for our franchise after Davis, then go get him.)

Beal would make a bunch of sense over MKG if Lequit is going to slink back home in 2014............depending on Gilbert.

We're getting ice cream in a few days! Grant's treat!

Seriously???
Lebron isn't coming back to Cleveland. Not in 3 years, not in 5 years, not ever. So, give up on that. I really don't want him to come back to Cleveland anyways. Like he said, he's from Akron, not Cleveland. He may retain a home in Akron, but Lebron has become/is becoming another transplanted Midwesterner in Florida. He proposed to Savannah & move his kids down from Ohio.

I'm curious why so many are assuming the Cavaliers want Beal?? I know SG is a hole for the team right now, but it's generally one of the easier positions on a team to fill.

SG is actually one of the most barren positions in the NBA right now... C is the only position that has less talent. PG/SF/PF seem like the "easy" ones to fill at this time.

However, put positions aside. Take the best talent. If you think that's Beal, take Beal. If you think that's MKG, take MKG.

If you hear a rumor that the Cavs want Beal, it could mean they want Beal. It could also mean they want someone else and are simply playing the draft game.

5 days left. Enjoy the ride.

Beal! Do it Grant, you know you want to.

We could easily package our 2nd rounders together to jump up into the late first round again. Maybe we are truly trading Andy and we'll be moving up into the teens somewhere via Andy + the 2nd rounders?

Who the hell knows what Chris Grant is scheming up right now. I fully expect Grant to rape the shit out of other GM's and come away from this draft with two solid young players in the back of his windowless van. :hide:
