A Closer Look at Jabari Parker

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
looks like jabari is enjoying NYC today

He should be staked out to be sure he's on a 1000 calorie diet prior to the draft. Unless he's only eating kale salads, I'd say he's undraftable. I'd be concerned if it were a box of pizza, not a slice.

I can understand why Jabari wants to go to the Bucks. Close to home and a wipe open space to build his brand.

If winning is your number 1 goal you wouldn't pick the Bucks over the Cavs.

This is irrelevant but just the fact that we are debating prospects that are my age, or younger than me (i'm going to be a sophomore in college) who are about to make millions of dollars.. It's kind of surreal.
It's more surreal when the guys your age start retiring

He certainly forces a strong defensive roster around him much like Irving does. That said, those two guys could run an NBA offense on their own.

Put these guys in a pick and read type of set, and you have Parker set a screen for Irving, one of the best finishers in the game. If the defense blitzes Irving too hard or rotates poorly while he attacks the rim, he dishes to Parker (whether he's outside or inside) for a clear look at a finish. If Parker is played too strongly, Irving racks up two points.

If weak side defense over plays the pick and read, weak side players such as Bennett and/or Dion (because those are who we have to think about at the moment) are open to either get a good look or to attack an already-moving defense.

Not to mention, Dion can take Kyrie's place on the pick and read and hopefully Bennett could take Jabari's to form another tandem.

Whether or not we'd ever see all 4 on the court together is a fair question, but regardless, one set could be the backbone of the entire offense.

Apparently Dominos pizza in the 80s looked exactly like Pizza Hut pizza looks now.

Lurking Bucks fan here. I understand the sentiment if this was a few months ago. Our former owner, while a wonderful guy, didn't have a clue how to run the basketball operations.

Now we've got two pretty sharp billionaires who are all in on this thing and remaking everything from the ground up. Whether they ultimately are successful remains to be seen, but they didn't seem to have any issues getting all four guys into Milwaukee for workouts (Embiid's injury came out the day before) and one of them (Parker) clearly wants to be there, which is a new experience for us. The new owners Edens and Lasry are pretty brilliant guys, so I wouldn't bet against them.

I think both Parker and Wiggins will be great pros and neither team can go wrong here. That said, for the moment, I think Cleveland has a bigger challenge than the Bucks. We've watched a dysfunctional owner in action for 25-years. Over time, they develop a reputation as being hard to work for. Talented front office people go elsewhere and players tend to try and avoid those franchises. At the moment Dan Gilbert is in the Dan Synder/Jerry Jones realm. Other than having some amazing luck in lottery drawings, from an outsiders perspective Gilbert spent the last decade mismanaging a lot of situations as it relates to the Cavs. Those type of owners have a hard time changing their stripes and can be problematic for a loyal fan base. We know this from experience as Bucks fans.

The Cav's are clearly farther along in their rebuilding than the Bucks. But whether Gilbert is able to create the type of organization and chemistry to get the Cavs back to a 50-win team remains to be seen.

I disagree with your statement that Parker clearly wants to be in Milwaukee, if you are suggesting he wants to be there over Cleveland. You do realize, do you not, that the Cavs put out the rumor (since who else could, since he/she would have to be at the Cleveland workout) to make it appear that they are taking Wiggins to try to increase Philly's offer. FWIW, Parker's father denied the rumor, stating, if Parker did not want to go to Cleveland, he would just not show up.

I also disagree with your sentiments about Dan Gilbert. He is seen by many in Cleveland as a strong owner with a passion to win who will spend big bucks to do so. His letter scolding LeBron was seen very favorably in Cleveland following the Decision. Attendance has been quite high despite a lackluster record. He has been involved in turning around downtown Cleveland.

Don't know much about your owner, but his daugher made a pretty big splash at the lottery.

Did the Cavs, "leak," that Parker weighed in at 255 too?

The Cavs put out the rumor (or fact) about his workout. However Chad Ford yesterday in multiple interviews said he personally spoke with someone close to Jabari who told him that Jabari "strongly" prefers Milwaukee. Whether that is accurate or not is up for debate, but that was not put out by the Cavs and Ford was clear on that point.

And I'm not trying to get you guys riled up over Dan Gilbert, but there is an outsider perspective that he's an impatient, emotional and meddling owner. Again, I've watched that type almost sink our franchise for the past 25-years. They can give great soundbites and you try to rally around them as fans. But over time, the people working for them (and frequently fired by them) tend to talk amongst their brethren. The rep develops that the situation is dysfunctional and top tier coaching and front office candidates start to avoid the place like the plague. Right now Gilbert's primary rep with other fans/media around the league is a guy who couldn't put together a functioning supporting cast for LeBron, went off the deep end when LeBron left, and has now spent the last four years burning high lotto picks. If he takes Jabari or Wiggins and gets LeBron to return, he'd clearly shed that rap quickly. But right now that's what he's carrying with him.

Was there any goal behind those posts beyond expressing that the Bucks new ownership > Cavs' ownership?

That's all I've gathered so far.
