Do Not Sell My Personal Information

How do you feel about the recent women movement in America?

Maybe you guys didn't notice, but I was gone for over a week. I missed this memo on no politics. I have no idea what ben said. So okay, whatever.

So why does this thread still exist then?

This is gonna end in a handful of people being banned if you don't take the most obvious hint from Ben ever...

And it wasn't even a hint, it was more of a directive. And I think almost everyone here understands the discussion is no longer welcome; and this very brief exchange proves why that is.

Probably because he was pissed and only closed the Trump thread -- I don't think he comes to the other threads at all anyway..

And my guess would be that someone used the report button in the Trump thread, but that's just a guess. Anyway, it's a wrap.

Okay, so I hadn’t clicked on that thread I well over a week. We can’t just assume that everybody got it.

Why is there a sticky at the top of off topic?

If the topic is feminism, that is political.

The topic wasn't feminism. The topic I brought up was dating. And if that is "political", then so are movies, and every other damn thing.

But I don't care enough about the topic to get into a dick-measuring contest about what is "political", so I'll drop it.

There are many ways women communicate, both verbal and non-verbal. Before social media and texting, most young men learned this through face-to-face interaction on a daily basis. Body language and tone of voice are very important. If a man is pursuing sexual contact with a woman he should at least understand the basics of how women communicate with men.
Ask your mother.
Ask your sister.
Ask your aunt.
Ask a female friend.
Ask your father.
Ask a guy who's been in a relationship for more than a 2 years.
They all probably know and if you aren't a complete dipshit they will probably tell you the truth.

Don't rely on advice from social media, celebrities, women's mags, men's mags, social justice warriors, dating sites, hook-up sites, porn ads, talk show hosts, star athletes, universities, wealthy men, exceptionally attractive men or the other guys trying to pick up drunken sluts at 2am.

Learn from people that know, not people that think they know.

Except they don't all do it the same way. Different women act differently, and two women acting similarly may actually have different intents. Like I said, if the only repercussion is striking out, it's no big deal. But if guessing wrong ruins your life...that sucks.

So...glad I'm married. That was my only "political" point, I suppose.

Slippery slope confirmed. We can effectively talk about nothing now. Take your box of crayons and sit in the corner.

To be clear, I don't think what you said was political, I'm talking about how it would be warped to fit the thread in which it was posted -- which, is exactly what happened. I don't think anyone would consider a thread about dating to be political in nature.

But I don't care enough about the topic to get into a dick-measuring contest about what is "political", so I'll drop it.

Indeed.

Not sure why the specific political topic threads were left open if we aren't allowed to continue those discussions. Obviously the Trump thread is where the pissing matches were the worst, but it existed elsewhere. I feel like this, the race thread, the terrorism thread, the transgender thread, etc. need to be locked or moved since it's impossible to have a discussion, civil or not, without politics getting involved.

I was having fun in the Trump thread, so I'm disappointed it's closed. I'd prefer to keep these open and be free to discuss what we'd like, but we are supposed to abide by the warning.

Got the EAYOR chick thread going with some fresh content. Don't want to get banned so this is my last post in here. See you guys over there.

Sure. You are right. My post wasn't a disagreement of yours.
I was just trying to provide a starting point for men to responsibly interact sexually with women.
1) Communication
This is the beginning. Without some skill here all else is lost. Men wanting to touch women need to have a clue about how women communicate.
2) Respect
Once you are understanding the communication it is only decent to give respect to the woman's messages. If there is fear, extreme anxiety, confusion, etc, halt the physical aggression and clarify. Only move forward if the communication, verbal or non-verbal, is unambiguous.
3) If you are publicly shamed after following the above, you are blameless and the woman is either a liar or a psycho. There is not much recourse there other than to assert the truth.
The lesson then becomes 'Don't get intimate with a woman until you spend enough time with her to have confidence in her character'.
It shouldn't be a surprise that a multitude of sexual relations with a string of virtual strangers will eventually lead to trouble...false accusations, disease, violence from a unmentioned boyfriend or husband, pregnancy, violence fueled by regret or delusion, etc.
The nature of sexual relations prevents absolute proof of continuous consent absent a videotape and notarized signatures.

We can be thrown around by the ever-changing rules of the PC crowd... or we can use common sense and treat people with decency and respect, an approach that works as well today as it did in 1990 or 1950.

It would be very difficult, but not impossible. An exercise in mental discipline can be a good thing.
Maybe if the site owners saw that some of us can talk issues without an obvious political slant they would open things back up.
It is not so much an aversion to politically discussion as it is a distaste for extremely partisan political talk peppered with insults and personal attacks.

We cant. We've been through this for at least a year, and that's only when I started following these threads so I'm sure it went on prior

People get banned for a quarter of a year and they still openly defy explicit instruction from the owner himself. They aren't getting banned. And if they aren't no one is.

We lasted two fucking posts. Ain't happening.

The past year was an aberration. Things were relatively calm prior. More focus on policy.

Edit: Those threads are still out there so check them out and judge for yourself.
