Drummond just seems to be one of those guys that does as hes told. I think if he has a coach that tells him to look to shoot or whatever he will just do it, never getting excited about it. I agree that he needs to be in a good spot to develop, if washinton draft him then it will be a real shame. The cavs would be a great spot for him

Andre Drummond will either be very very good or out of the league after his rookie deal. He is the defenition of boom or bust. He will either make some GM look like a genious for selecting him, or set a franchise back a decade. Most interesting prospect in this draft in that he is a franchise changer one way or the other.

At the start of the year I wanted him above all, but at this point I would prefer MKG or Davis over him.

at the very least hes going to be an elite post defender, and an athletic big who can finish around the basket. a frontline of tristan drummond would be extremely effective defensively (but also very anemic on offense, unless tt or drummond improve on the offensive end, which there is a decent probability of happening). this would also allow av and tt to move back to their natural power forward position. TT, varejao, drummond... damn that would probably be one of the best defensive front courts in the entire league.

or the cavs could take beal and solidify our back court for the (hopefully) next decade. either one id be happy with, and both are major positions of need.

heres something to consider: if drummond sucks, then the cavs will be awful next year as well, giving them another shot at a top 5 pick. if we get beal, i think the cavs could be a fringe playoff team. the improvement from parker to beal is tremendous.

thats assuming mkg or davis isnt available, those are my two favorites.

The fact that he seemed to give real effort and commitment on the defensive end is encouraging when speculating about his attitude. Pretty alarming FT% though. I'd probably take him over MKG, Robinson, etc. if we were to get the second pick..the opportunity to get a franchise C is hard to pass up. I'm confident he'll be an asset on D pretty early on and with his hands he should be able to get a lot of buckets just by playing off Kyrie. Kwame's stone hands held him back a ton, as with many good big man prospects.

I have a feeling that the Cavs are going to be aggressive as hell on draft night. I wouldn't be surprised if we walk out with two lottery picks like Drummond and Lamb or something of that nature. We could have our cake and eat it, too. Grant has made it pretty clear that they key to building this team is the draft, and, with is track record of trying to get as many high picks as possible, I could see us sitting with two potential all-stars on our roster by the end of draft night.

Yeah that's the most exciting thing for me. If the Cavs had the opportunity at Drummond, they would more than likely be fairly bad next season, with the chance of finding a very good wing player in 2013. Having a core of Irving, TT, and Drummond, with a very talented wing player would be SO exciting.

He was pretty much non-existent in their tourney loss to Iowa State. He fouled out with 2 points, 3 rebounds and 4 blocks. No free throw attempts. If you can't get motivated to show up to play for an NCAA tourney game; I'm not sure any coach in the NBA could get him to bring his A-game for 82 games a season. Does he have incredible potential?? Sure, but I don't exactly have high hopes of him ever reaching it

I'd rather just draft Davis and let some other GM get fired. I don't know what the wuck they've been doing with Drummond at UConn, but it doesn't look that impressive. I'm thinking that, if Drummond comes here, he's going to improve by leaps and bounds, but I'd still rather not take the risk if there's the chance at getting Davis or MKG. After those two and PERHAPS Beal/Lamb, I might take a swing a Drummond.

Pretty sure every GM would rather draft Davis. That's why he's number 1.

i think the cavs would have to trade varejao to get back into the lottery, id do it.
kyrie, lamb, gee, tt, drummond is a good, really young lineup. much better than kyrie, parker, gee, jamison, tt. assuming gee, kyrie, and tristan continue to improve.

Drummond needs to work on everything. Post game, foot work, establishing position, his shot, his release point and so on. The biggest question will be how hard will he work to get the most out his physical ability. Does he want it?

At worst, he's going to have a huge impact defensively at Center.

Although he struggled, he had a lot going against him. Uconn had no true point guard and a bunch of chuckers to add to the fact that the NCAA rules and coaches favor guard play over throwing it inside to a big. Zone defense hurts bigs as well. Calhoun has been a great coach but there was no stability with him and the team in general this season.

10/8 and 3 blocks aren't overwhelming numbers but they were solid considering the circumstances.

He's better suited to play in the NBA than in college...

UConn runs ZERO pick and rolls....

I think Drummond becomes a much better pro than Thomas Robinson, someone who appears to dominate college but will be pretty ordinary in the league.... Drummond could be on par with Dwight, worst case he is a Marcus Camby type of player....It might take him a little while, but at worst he's a guy that can defend and rebound at 6-11 275

Robinson will be Al Jefferson/Derrick Williams..... Much easier to find Robinsons than Drummonds....

This guy is going to be an absolute animal. And I would fucking LOVE for the Cavs to have a real franchise center paired with Irving rather than some role player.

I'll have to see how the board shapes up, but the only dudes I would take with our first pick over Drummond would be Anthony Davis and MKG.

The possibility of having something that not everyone has (a dominant center) is starting to make me want Drummond over MKG

I would love Drummond here as I think him, Kyrie and Tristan all have very compatible types of game... And since we have the point guard and big men positions filled, we would just need to sign some dominant wing player who has free agency in a couple of years once those young guys are nice and developed. Anyone know anyone? :chuckles:
