Andrew Wiggins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs didn't win that trade, Minnesota won that trade because Love wouldn't have signed there after that season.
They got Dunn and Towns because of that too. So no, the Cavs didn't win this trade.

Wiggins had plenty of value and Love in the end was a better fit because Lebron led teams need a stretch 4 but I still think any other stretch 4 would have done the job almost as good but good enough to reach the finals where Love wasn't a factor.
See Frye and how excellent he works with LBJ.

To be fair, both teams won. They each got exactly what they wanted out of the deal. The Cavs did win this trade, but so did the Wolves. However, you can't really credit this trade with netting them Towns and Dunn because that implies the Cavs could have gotten them had we not made the trade.

Yeah, this might be rough to say, but I just am not seeing it from him. Given he's still young. He can't rebound at all for his position. He's actually quite horrible in that regard. 4 boards a game? He's 6-8.

He doesn't make plays for anyone. His outside shooting is suspect. Although he started out really well shooting the 3 ball, but I think that will come down.

He's a pretty good isolation player that can score. No denying that. But the biggest disappointment of all is he's just not a good defender at all... And at that position, it hurts if you can't defend, and that's what he was supposed to do.

He just looks like a one-dimensional player at the moment.

He's definitely not ready to be productive on a good team IMO. Maybe they need a better complement of players.

Again, he is still very young. I'm not saying give up on him, but you want to see his game to start rounding out a little more. Having 20 point empty stat games and being pretty atrocious at everything else isn't exactly what you want to see in terms of growth.

No, it doesn't.. they got Towns because they sucked without Love and that was the reason they got the 1st pick in the draft.
Wolves with Love are a fringe playoffs team so they wouldn't have rebuilt this fast with him playing that year.
Ask any Wolves fan, they won that trade regardless of how Wiggins pans out. Cavs overpaid but it doesn't really matter. That 1st the Cavs gave them would have been quite valuable right about now.

I'd trade Wiggins while he has tons of value. have you ever seen someone become a superstar with such bad advanced numbers for full 3 seasons?

I don't know if I'd go that far. He is talented. I don't think he was ever going to be a superstar. But right now he's not developed thus far. It is a bit concerning.

He is going to be a Jeff Green 2.0 with high usage. I'd go with Zach Lavine over him since both of them can not co-exist and Wiggins still has tons of value in the league.

Yep, checks out.

Speak for yourself.

I think we tried to push Waiters and Bennett on them. They knew like we did that both players were trash. At least with wiggins there was the element of the unknown with a ton of upside.

Both teams won the trade because at least the wolves were able to cash in and get talent before Love bounced. The cavs got the better player both in short term and long term.

That's cute if Wolves fans think they won that trade... while I'm sitting here wearing a Cavs NBA Championship shirt.

The Cavs won that trade when they won a title for the city of Cleveland. What overpay?

I think Wiggins is gonna be really good. Still super young and showing some impressive things, but obviously has a long ways to go before becoming a truly elite player.

That said, this is a classic example of a trade that both teams "won." Everyone said at the time if the Cavs won a title, they'd be absolved of any wrongdoing regardless of how good Wiggins becomes. So what gives? The Cavs won a championship. They're set up to win more, and Love is looking fully-realized in his third year with the team. Any talk about an overpay is laughable at this point. But props to the Wolves, they made out well in the trade also, getting a young player with superstar potential.

To be fair, the talk of an "overpay" where it pertains to the Love-Wiggins trade is the 1st rounder that we seemingly threw at them to consummate the deal quicker. Saunders was really after Wiggins and I don't think he was ready to fold over a pick not being included.

You're right that both teams "won out", but throwing in Miami's pick was just foolish asset burning IMO, and it stings especially right now given our asset dilemma.

Wow...people have 21 year old Andrew Wiggins' potential maxed out already?

The question is more of what his potential really is. As a comparison a 21 yo Carmelo was putting up 26 a game with PER of 22 and shooting 48% from the field. Certain guys like Billups take longer to mature but most superstars start looking like superstars by their 3rd year in the league

So Minnesota won the trade because of players who were in high school and college at the time it happened, but the guy they got in return for Love is the guy they should be shipping out right now?

Meanwhile, the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers are 13-2.

Ok.
