Andris Biedrins on the block?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
AV is 6'11" 260 lbs. He can be a center.

Someone mentioned Biedrens knows not to shoot away from the hoop, implying Andy does not know this. Andy shot 57% from the floor, I don't care where he shot from if that is going to be his FG% over the course of the year.

IMO, AV IS our starting Center. In an uptempo motion offense, there's no need for him to be a bench guy. As for shooting away from the basket, while he does shoot a high percentage...I believe that he still takes entirely too many midrange shots. His form is terrible...if he didn't take so many of those, he'd easily be in the 60% + range.

Andy killed the Lakers this year, he played 55 minutes in the 2 games, scored 20 points had 17 boards while shooting 81% from the floor. He also helped hold Gasol to under 40% from the floor (Shaq spent more time on Bynum with JJ and Andy on Gasol). Now I know he played mostly PF against the Lakers, so it is not going to the same next year.

In the first Laker game, Shaq only played 21 minutes..Andy got 32 minutes.

Also in the 2nd Lakers Game JJ had 11 pts and 14 boards in just 25 minutes, shot 67%.

JJ is a strong kid, who I think can guard Bynum as long as long as he keeps him off the block...This puts Andy on Gasol. I think we would do just fine that way...

I am excited to see these guys get more opportunities to show what they can do. I think Andy can be a 14pt, 10 board guy with all league defense. Hell, 14 and 10 got Horford into the all star game and he is not 2nd team all D. I think JJ can be an 16 and 8 guy this year. We will see.

And back to the list for a second, which guys do you think CAN match up with the Lakers and Magic on that list??

Small sample size. Give the Lakers an entire series & they'll take advantage of weaknesses.

But the fact is, we probably wouldn't even make it that far, as there's no way we'd get by Orlando with Andy & J.J as our centers.

I never said any of them could match up with the Lakers & Magic..

Why are we speaking in hypotheticals like LeCunt is still on the Cavs? We aren't competing for a championship any longer.

I understand that, just saying we need a bigger center for when we (hopefully) contend again in a couple years.

6'11, 260lbs (AV) not big enough for you? Bynum is a good defensive center with a little offensive game. Howard is just an athletic freak. Matching up with Howard is nearly impossible. You just need to find a guy who can get under his skin and force fouls.

I do thing we need to prepare for Howard and other big man in 4-5 or so years if we are a contender.

But we really need to find young defensive guards to be able to guard Evans, Jennings, Curry, and Rose.

When healthy Bynum is good for at least 15pts a game at around a 57% FG%. I would take that little game if I had a choice...

I wonder if Cleveland has called Golden State about him or Ellis.......Golden State would likely want Hickson or Varejao back in return along with some of the trade exception but thats just my opinion

We should start the vets, and let the young guys come off the bench, until we find takers for Mo,Antwan,AP,JMoon,AV. Hickson is not going to be shooting that summer league Jumper from 15 feet on NBA stars, and the other premier 4's in this league.

this is definitely the move we are waiting to do,Sixers have a redundant core, thad young and Iggy are one in the same and Turner is the true SG,

M.Williams/R.Sessions/D.Gibson
A.Parker/C.Eyenga/D.Green
A.Iguodala/J.Graham
A.Jamison/J.Hickson
A.Verajao/R.Hollins

I'm also excited to see what Andy can do now that he's gonna be unleashed in this new system. I think we're gonna be quite surprised at his abilities. Of course his FG% is gonna take a hit, but his numbers overall are definitely gonna go up. It should be an interesting year.
