Andy Katz: Cavs offer #1 overall, Tristan, Waiters for Love... Rejected.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Where's Windy been? Anyone read any info from him lately? He still brings the goods from South Beach as opposed to these so called Cavs Beat reporters here in Cleveland.
Jason Loyd from the Beacon Journal is surely the best in my opinion of the local beat writers. TIA

I think we can all agree Love is a top 20 player(and he's only 24). There's 30 teams in the NBA. Getting one top 20 player isn't easy, but we do have one. If you have the opportunity to get a second you go for it every time...even if you have to overpay a little.

I don't think Love gets moved unless he asks for a trade. If he does, we'd be insane not to after him. Then we add a third top 20 player next summer. :chuckles:

I understand Love isn't the greatest defender. But defensive rebounding is a pretty big(underrated) part of defense. Plus Love is great on the outlet passes. Several of those years that Love missed multiple games were due to the Wolves tanking ala us with Kyrie. It's entirely different to play through injuries when your team is a playoff contender vs one that is hopelessly out of the playoffs.

Amen Brother...you can pick up role players along the way

First, it is debatable that Kyrie and Love are top 20 players, especially when factoring in their defensive woes. Furthermore, having two poor defenders on the court at the same time will make us a weak defensive team no matter how good defensively the other three players are. Lastly, both players are seriously injury prone. It'd be a recipe for disaster to put all of your eggs into a Kyre/Love duo. What makes this trade even more horrendous is that Waiters is in the trade, who had a great rookie season and I think will develop into an all-star caliber guard. If somehow Waiters was not in the trade then I could live with it, as Kyre/Waiters/Love would be the makings of a strong core. But the trade as reported is just giving up way, way too much.

^ you think Waiters could develop into an all star, Love is already 2x all star and has a 2nd team all NBA selection.

Max is right, you accumulate assets to make deals like this.

Yes but Waiters is only 1/3 of that trade. We are also talking about giving up a number one pick and a second year power forward who is rapidly improving and averaged a double, double. Number one picks historically become at least all-star players if not franchise players. It's just way too much to give for a player like Love with injury problems and holes in his game.

^ some years there is a clear cut future star, other years not only is there no clear cut guy, but the guy taken #1 doesn't live up to the pick. This year we are an hour away from the draft and still really have no idea who we'll take with the pick and nobody is beating down our door to get that pick.

Honestly the only question about Noel should be his knee. If he stays healthy I think he is a definite allstar in this league. Easy to see his DPOY potential and his elite athleticism could turn him into a very serviceable offensive threat.

We just get our own Kevin Love in Bennett who can shoot 3's, rebound, and not play defense?
