Andy Katz: Cavs offer #1 overall, Tristan, Waiters for Love... Rejected.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Love's one of the better scorers but he's pretty well known for not playing D. That doesn't jive with success for me. There's a reason that when he's putting up 20-20 games they're still losing.

Kevin love is a top 10 player in terms of future power rankings. You people are crazy there's a reason he's untouchable.

He's untouchable because a rookie GM doesn't trade the best player on the team during his first off-season in charge when the guy still has multiple years left on his deal. That would be career suicide.

1 way players aren't untouchable

the list of untouchable players is:

LeBron
Durant

end list

Rose and ronda coming off an acl.... They should not be on that list right now and I'll take Love over LMA

also a few I forgot to mention:

Marc Gasol
Noah
Kyrie
Dirk
Parker
Kobe (this is debatable IMO)
even if you remove the old guys like Duncan, Dirk, Kobe...you still have more than 10

I come in peace. I just want to discuss this latest news. I was shocked to see so many people saying that this was a ridiculous offer.

Kevin Love is a top 10 player when healthy. Him and Kyrie are an instant playoff team. You need stars to win is this league and with Kyrie and Love, the Cavs would have two of a big 3. Love's injuries were freak accidents.

Going over what the Cavs were giving up:

Thompson - He did look better this past season, but he would be a significant downgrade and the Wolves would much rather roll with D-Will if Love were to be moved
Waiters -He didn't have the best rookie season and quite frankly, I'm not too fond of him.
#1 pick - It is a number one, but it is a really weak class with big questions marks around every candidate. Why wouldn't the wolves move up without giving up Love?

You just don't trade a top 10 player in his prime if you are the Wolves unless the offer is unbelievably good, which this was not.

So glad Flip is the GM now. Kahn may just have taken that offer.

I'm not pretending to know how the Timberwolves function as a group... but how does Kyrie+Love = Instant playoffs when Love+Rubio can't even come close? Especially considering the current Timberwolves lineup would be much better than a Cavs lineup that has just lost TT, DW, and a #1 pick?

1 reason being that Kyrie is better than Rubio.

2011-2012 season: The Wolves were well on their way to the playoffs before Rubio tore is acl.

2012-2013 season: Rubio and Love played 18 minutes together. Love player 18 games and Rubio played 57. I know every team has injuries, but they had maybe the most injury riddled season of all-time (even including Adelman's wife). There was no way they were going to make the playoffs this year.

Top 10 IMO,

LeBron
Durant
Paul
Westbrook
Harden
Parker
Melo
George
Curry
Love

Really? No Kobe? Guy averaged 27-6-6 over 78 games last year before he got hurt.....Kobe's still in the top 10 over players like Curry, Love and George

Paul George isn't a top 10 player in the NBA. His stock benefitted from an entire team that came together this season. He just happened to be the best player in the collective bunch. Same goes for Curry.
