Andy Katz: Cavs offer #1 overall, Tristan, Waiters for Love... Rejected.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I come in peace. I just want to discuss this latest news. I was shocked to see so many people saying that this was a ridiculous offer.

Kevin Love is a top 10 player when healthy. Him and Kyrie are an instant playoff team. You need stars to win is this league and with Kyrie and Love, the Cavs would have two of a big 3. Love's injuries were freak accidents.

Going over what the Cavs were giving up:

Thompson - He did look better this past season, but he would be a significant downgrade and the Wolves would much rather roll with D-Will if Love were to be moved
Waiters -He didn't have the best rookie season and quite frankly, I'm not too fond of him.
#1 pick - It is a number one, but it is a really weak class with big questions marks around every candidate. Why wouldn't the wolves move up without giving up Love?

You just don't trade a top 10 player in his prime if you are the Wolves unless the offer is unbelievably good, which this was not.

So glad Flip is the GM now. Kahn may just have taken that offer.

He's a top 25 player and in a good spot because of his age. He is the type of player you try and acquire, but he probably doesn't become available(if at all) until and January, once Minnesota has sorted out how its playing with the new picks and everyone healthy.

Dion may not have had the best rookie season but he won rookie of the month, had some huge games and flashed his potential. Kid is a gym rat and is doing everything to get better. You may be underrating Dion a little bit.

Durant
Lebron
Kobe
Harden
Paul
Melo
Duncan
Kyrie
Parker
Curry

Agreed. I would also add Dwight Howard, LaMarcus Aldridge, Dwayne Wade, Derrick Rose, Chris Bosh (yep, come at me bro), Rajon Rondo, and Russell Westbrook.

Possibles based on what I think they'll likely do in the future would include Paul George and if he can wake up, Deron Williams (really think his struggles have to end this next season).

So by my count that's 19 players (maybe 2-3 are arguable), but I think Kevin Love is firmly outside the Top 15 players in the NBA.

(doesn't mean I wouldn't trade for him though.. ;) )

Also agree, though I do not like Melo. Now looking at that same list, remove players thst will be retiring before the start of Love's next contract.

There's the real list.

That still leaves us at eight, and gour already listed several more players that could easily have made that list over Kevin Love.

Kevin Love never played a playoff game... Top players will their teams to the playoffs. Kevin Love is in the top 30 though.

Kevin Love > Waiters, TT, #1 overall. Shit, I'll say it again, I'd throw in another lottery pick or two.

Kevin Love is an Olympian who hasn't even reached his prime yet, these opportunities don't come around often. Two bonafide stars and some cap space is better than one bonafide star and a couple of potentially good players who might not even fit together. I get that everyone wants to stand up for guys like Waiters and TT, and thats great, I won't be bummed if they're still around in October, but shit, it's Kevin Love; the best rebounder in the world and perfect complement to the top young PG in the world.....

Being an Olympian is not something to be that proud of. TT will be an Olympian, hell Loul was an Olympian as well.

Kevin Love is a lot of other things besides being a good rebounder. Pourus on D, injury prone. He's going to demand out after next season, let's just wait until then and get him for next to nothing like LAL got DHo.

I keep thinking about how bad our D would be with Love...

List 10 players that are better right now go

Lebron
Durant
Westbrook
Paul
Rondo
Curry
Rose
George
Duncan
LMA
Howard (giving him the benefit)
Harden (?)

just quickly off the top-might be a few more

Kevin love is a top 10 player in terms of future power rankings. You people are crazy there's a reason he's untouchable.
