5 straight games of 67%+ completions as a rookie.
2 out of his last 4 at 80%+ in wins over teams that were led by SB QBs. This is rare as fuck (will get stats on that).
Rookies don’t do this.
People are going to be saying his name (and Myles’s) a fuck ton in the future.
If Baker never improved and played at this level the next 10 years, I would be extremely happy and 100% content with the drafting of him #1 overall. The fact that he is doing this as a rookie is so encouraging. I can't imagine how upset we would all be right now if we took anyone other than Baker at #1.
Watching the Eagles this year there is no way I'd trade Mayfield for Wentz at this point. Wentz is showing that last year's performance was probably a fluke, which makes sense given that his turnover rate was absolutely unsustainable.
I don't know about great. Bernie never had a truly great arm. Had a great mind and relied on that. He was a good QB.
But Baker has tools Bernie could only dream of having.
I really don't think it will be close which guy ends up being better, TBH.
Again, no disrespect to Bernie. I grew up in a 19 jersey and fell in love with the Browns because of him.
No offense to Bernie, but he's going to be leaps and bounds better
Mahommes made a throw setting up the game winning TD that I would have thought was impossible for a human to make. Mahommes is the only QB I consider trading Baker for and probably don't just because I like Bakers personality better although Mahommes has the better arm talent for sure.....and I think Baker is top 5 in the league arm talent wise.
Yeah, as of right now the three young QBs I'd rank ahead of Baker are Mahomes, Goff, and Watson. Not saying I'd trade Baker for all three of them, but they are all playing well on contending teams and are all still on rookie contracts, so they get the nod.
Note: I don't really consider Luck to be young any more, as he'll be thirty at the start of next season. He's a vet.
Brian Sipe was my first man crush, then Bernie and Clay.
That said, not sure why anyone that remembers Bernie has to sat no offense to Bernie. We all know what he was, an accurate not quite averaged armed qb. He was Peyton Manning in his final season but that was Bernie for his whole career.
No big deal, we still love Bernie, but it will be Baker's bust we visit in Canton.
Bernie's arm was good enough before the elbow injuries started piling up. That damned Lloyd Burress.
Anyway, I think Bernie would be fine with Baker being better than him. If Baker is a lot better than Bernie that means the Browns are going to win a lot of games with Baker, and for a guy who bleeds brown and orange that's all that matters. Wouldn't change a thing about how the people who grew up watching Bernie- like me- feel about him.
