Bias In Media

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did he claim men are better at coding than women?

Yes, that's why he was fired.

Saying women would be better suited in pair programming, and less suitable without it diminishes their value as independent programmers and suggests they rely on communication and cooperation to solve the same problems that a single male developer could do.

His entire point is that women have deficiencies relating to how we generally look to write code; and that this deficiency is biological and this explains the gap in wages because their performance is not on par.

That's why he was fired Dave; that's why so many have taken exception to what he's said.

If some women had sent around something saying women are more empathetic and cooperative than men, and therefore make better leaders, people would have nodded knowingly at their insight.

Some dude claims men are better at something, and he gets fired.

This is like claiming Neil Patrick Harris is taking all the straight roles in Hollywood. Things can be opposite without being equal and opposite.

Right. Because feminism isn't about treating men and women equally. It is about going through whatever logical contortions are required to ensure thay whatever the rule is, it works to the advantage of women.

...in this hypothetical where a woman is empowered enough to send a company wide email saying men aren’t good enough at certain aspects of their job.

Perhaps this would happen more regularly if they were actually treated as equals?

But they’re not, thus we still face issues.

Which is a complete dodge of the point. We both know that women who would make that argument wouldn't be fired.

Or is your argument that "but your hypothetical would never happen --people just don't make that claim?" Try googling "women make better leaders than men". You'll see no shortage of highly reputable publications and people making that argument openly. President Obama even said that women are better socialized to be leaders than are men. And he was lauded for it.

But that's okay. If is perfectly acceptable to argue that women are better/men are worse at any number of very important things. The converse...you're a misogynistic moron. If you don't believe that, fine. I'm simply raising the point, and will let others judge from their own reading and own experience how true that is.

ETA: Anyway, if anyone wants to respond, you can copy this and take it to the politics thread.

We don't know that at all.

But we're arguing a hypothetical that hasn't happened.

And it hasn't happened for a reason.

I can't take it to the politics thread yet, but happy to pick up where it leaves off.

I do think it's okay for a man to champion a woman's ability to do things better than men. As compared to a man deriding women for not being good enough at their roles based on his own pre-conceived notions and bias.

Is that really what the issue at hand is here?

That men being unnecessarily hostile towards women isn't equal as men believing women are better suited to lead in some respects?

I think it is interesting that we always here about false flag operations from the right, but they are the only ones who consistently participate in such operations. Just as we saw with the father who doctored the cnn emails. Just like the cheater who always sees evidence their spouse is doing so.

Is the dad from Florida alt right? You are going to have to come up with some specific definitions because you guys were worried about Alex Jones yesterday and conservative voices being silenced. Seems to me you change the definition based on convenience.

Those are a bunch of topics I never commented on but Alex Jones is libertarian. Alt right have way too many beliefs that are in direct conflict with the right. The only sentiments they shared was anti progressive and pro free speech. So what little bond was shared with anyone has evaporated because they directly oppose free speech in its spirit and they are essentially the other side of the progressives that aren't doing it right.

I also am not medium or ty or anyone else. We all have opinions that we don't necessarily share

That's fine, but calling parkland a false flag and suggesting the that there was some other organization behind it be it Soros or someone else was pretty mainstream last week. It backfired and some people got fired so people have been backing away from it. Fact is that the Alt-right has infiltrated the right. People have been trying to distinguish themselves from the Alt-right while still using them to further their agenda. This is lying down with dogs and waking up with fleas I'm afraid.

The preferred nomenclature is New Right, Cavatt.

Thank you.
