Carmelo Anthony

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Would you like Melo on this team if you didn't have to trade Love?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Depends on who we have to trade (really?)

They aren't getting Melo without trading Love. They also should be able to pick up something else if dealing Love for Melo. If Griffin could address the size issue at the same time, this is certainly something to consider.

Why the hell would we agree to that? I'd like to think we could at least snag a first round pick for Melo.

What pick, from who?

BTW, I'm not talking about Shump going to New York; we had this conversation last night in another section of the board....

We'd discussed a package going to the Wolves with Rubio going to New York.

No doubt; but, people are in here acting like Melo is garbage; he's not.

None of us do.

Of course...

Or because they're ready to start a new chapter.

We're not Knicks fans. We've got a limited window and we're going up against what might be the best team in NBA history.

But do you think he is what we need in order to match up with the Warriors? I doubt it very much. I want a rim protector, I want good defense, I want to enjoy this team and not suffer or act indifferent all the time to mask my disappointment. Like you said, our title window is short and we are not going to have anything close to that product for years to come. Why can't we also enjoy this team in the RS aswell? (Off-topic rant) Melo is going to screw with the chemistry that we have built for 3 years(this is not a representive product right now.) we need someone we can plug and play.
If we can get Melo for pennies on the dollar then i'm all for it. Then, we can trade him to get Nurkic and Barton. That's my plan!

I'm glad we fired this up so it never happens. I don't want his fat selfish ass on this team.
The reason Mello is the way he's is-is the fact that he already accepted his fate as someone who would never win a ring or make it far in the playoffs ever. But if he is traded to the Cavs and playing along side LeBron on the team that guarantee to go to the finals, Carmello will play with so much fire on both sides. It's like being born again like a Phoenix. There is no way LeBron would let Mello half ass on his team. There is no way Mello would halfass and not give his all while playing with LeBron.

Not trading Tristan Thompson..

I would if the Golden State team bus fell off a cliff; but... he's literally our 3rd most valuable player behind James/Irving against the Warriors... Trading him and counting on Andrew fucking Bogut would be... worrisome.

What if we picked up a roided out Larry Sanders who became good at basketball again?

Melo has a no-trade clause. I doubt he wants to go to Boston.

L.A.? Possibly........

I dunno. There's at least an outside possibility that Boston would appeal to him as it's still a major city and has two other All Stars (albeit b-level All Stars) in Thomas and Horford.

I actualy agree with this. His defense has not been as bad as his reputation. When engaged he can really play good d. But it would be a huge adjustment to your offense since he is one of the worst ballstoppers in the league.

What if the Cavs could snag Kyle O'Quinn/Willy Hernangomez and Justin Holiday aswell?

If we were to get 'Melo. Hypothetically. I think they'd you would have to trade Love.

How else would it work? I just don't see how. The only key to having 'Melo is going smaller/quicker in the front line.

I think you'd have to trade Kevin Love then. Not for 'Melo, because that would be a joke.

Either way, I have no interest at all.

If 'Melo is so serious about wanting to win. Why don't he start to work on a buyout agreement with Jackson then.

Damn it AC do you want to beat the Warriors or not?!?!? Someone is going to have to sacrifice here lol

People keep saying they need to make another trade, but with what? Your tradeable assets are almost nil. You won't get back a meaningful player for them. Not without stripping the team of needed pieces. It's possible you will be able to nab Jameer Nelson or someone like that. That doesn't help bet Golden State. I just can't see what could possibly be done to alleviate a talent differential like we have with them. The only real solution is to play as hard as possible for the first three quarters and then be able to take rests. you play well and play hard while you're in there, but you actually play fewer minutes.

But do you think he is what we need in order to match up with the Warriors? I doubt it very much.

It's not ideal... but.. it's better than what we have. Shump isn't very useful against the Warriors when Curry is on the floor. But Frye and RJ aren't useful against the Warriors period.

I want a rim protector, I want good defense,

I don't think the Cavs really need a rim protector, although it'd be nice. I'd love good defense, but; Cavs aren't going to be a great defensive team this year, I think. Not unless they lock in on other areas.

It's hard to enjoy the Cavs during the regular season when they themselves, led by LeBron, are being taught not to care about the regular season.

Melo is going to screw with the chemistry that we have built for 3 years(this is not a representive product right now.)

LeBron and Melo are best friends... He's closer with Melo today than he is with anyone on the team... Irving and Melo seem to play well together, and while I think Love will be the most affected moving to C in the starting lineup, I think that still works for the Cavs.

we need someone we can plug and play.

We're talking about a former superstar who can shoot.

....you can't trade Melo like that without his consent; you'd need to wait until the offseason.

Damn it AC do you want to beat the Warriors or not?!?!? Someone is going to have to sacrifice here lol

The only reason the Knicks would do this is because it's no different than just dumping Melo and moving forward. And since the Knicks can't do that given Melo's contract, then it makes sense for them to look at trade proposals.

Unless they want to continue on as they are; which it seems neither side is willing to do... given trade discussions for a player who has a no-trade clause.
