Cavaliers, Mavericks and Bobcats interested in DeMarcus Cousins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Trading for Cousins

People are underrating what it would take to get him if anything. I have no idea how you came to this.

I'm going to to put myself in the new owner's shoes. The only way I would even think about getting rid of Cousins if I wanted to start fresh and move in a new direction (which I don't think is going to even happen). I would want Noel + the 19th pick and to get their first rounder back at the very least. I would start the bidding with Noel + TT or Noel +Waiters.

You put yourself in the new owners shoes and he's thinking this guy is talented but has been nothing but a headache to this franchise. What can I get for him that will appease the fans and I think an easy sell to the fans is having the 1st overall pick in the draft. Cleveland trades them #1, #31, and the rights back to their 2014 1st for Cousins.

Re: Trading for Cousins

Thompson is not a cavalier when we draft Noel. Noel is a Thompson replacement. Once we have Noel the cavs need a center with a face up game that can open the lane for Noel's cuts.

Re: Trading for Cousins

Look at the trade Thompson thread. Adding Noel just adds more fuel to the fire that Thompson will be jettisoned. What do you think these center threads are? They are avenues to purge Thompson.

Re: Trading for Cousins

I think people are overrating what it would take to get cousins. I wouldn't trade Noel for him, but I would trade Thompson for him. I think that's fair. No one complained when z shot 47%. His defense may never be great but I think he's likely to get better as he's only 22.
lol it would take far more than thompson to get cousins. especially since they have new ownership, as noted.

Re: Trading for Cousins

I don't think the cavs would swap Thompson for cousins. If the cavs had an Aldridge it would make more sense to keep thompson With the situation as it is the cavs need a higher level offensive talent more than another put back defense guy.

Re: Trading for Cousins

Cousins will never be a shotblocker or an elite defender, take it from someone who watches him every game. What he could do if he matured would be something in the aveune of 23 and 11/25 and 10 etc. But he has to get it together, shooting 45-47% won't get it done as a center (this can be fixed by working out with a shooting/post offense coach), he needs a coach that can deal with a troubled player. When he was with Kentucky he was successful due to the culture with Wall and Coach Calipari.

Honestly he would do better with the Cavs than the Kings as currently constructed, but a change in culture (new ownership and front office etc. it leaks down to a new coach) would probably help.

Re: Trading for Cousins

What do u think of Cousins trade value? What kind of talent could cousins fetch if the kings decide to trade him?

Re: Trading for Cousins

Problem is I probably value him more than you guys would seeing as the Kings are my team, just to not seem extreme I would say a bit more than the 1st pick. But thats probably bias talking. Regardless its new ownership, if this were the Maloofs all you had to do is wave 3 million at them and Cousins is gone.

And by a bit I mean 1st + 19th + Zeller or 1st + a Player and the 31st. Something like that.

There is no way Cousins warrants either of those deals. He's a headcase and is coming up on his next contract. In a draft that's heavy with a few different kind of quality centers, there's no way Cousins will get two, or three 1st round picks (including #1). Look at what James Harden got, and then reevaluate what you think Cousins would get.

Did you read his post? He admitted to overvaluing him, just as we do with AV.

if the cavs are sold on noel, they take the cousins/thompson swap and run fast. he is a much, much better fit with noel. of course, kings would demand more so it's a moot point, but still.

Re: Trading for Cousins

The Kings have the worst defense in the league. Boogie is a moron and selfish chucker who is the poster child for putting up empty stats. Trade the top pick for a big that the Cavs would control for two less years and who shoots 46% from the field and thinks defense is nothing more than a rumor? What?

Noel is one of the best defensive prospects in a generation. And by all accounts he is a solid guy and teammate. At what point are people going to realize that defense is, quite literally, half the game?

I get the concern about the knee. But Cavs fans should be a lot more excited about this pick.

No thank you. I don't want him, but definitely not for that. That is way too much to give up for Cousins.

Re: Nerlens Noel: Worth the Risk?

So, in each of their primes you guys really believe Noel is going to be a better player than Cousins?

I don't see it at all, Cousins may have had his off-court moments but the talent is absolutely undeniable. The guy is painfully clear he doesn't want to be playing for that garbage team in Sacramento. Okay, good, I say send him to Cleveland and let's begin our playoff waltz.

A line up of:

Kyrie/Dion/Veteran?/TT/Cousins

is surely better than:

Kyrie/Dion/Veteran?/TT/Noel

He's a much better fit here, and he's not 206 pounds.

Nothing says "great fit" like a guy who doesn't play defense coming to a team with one of the worst defense in the league. When you add in that he's a complete wackjob, I'd have to pass on Cousins. He's got a ton of potential, but I am of the belief that he'll only realize it if he ends up on a team with some actual veteran leadership, and that ain't ours. All he would do here is pollute the locker room and damage our rebuild.
