Cavs coaching search

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would immediately fire this bozo after his ridiculous statements, lol at him making threats acting like we actually need him for anything but being a placeholder until we get an actual NBA caliber coach for once.

He doesn’t wanna do it? who gives a damn, anybody else on the coaching roster will do the exact same job as him, Larry Drew can go screw himself because there’s no way he’ll be the next long term head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Drew will hold the roster together. Without him and having to go outside of the organization for a short term replacement will be detrimental to the youth on this roster. Not to mention this instability could cost us in the long run with anyone we want to retain or attract in free agency.

You don’t have to go outside of the organization for an interim coach, as far as I know there’s other assistant coaches on the roster that are just as bad as him.

If you want to give Larry Drew a long term deal just because of some imaginary stability he brings than you’re out of your mind, there’s is nothing to hold together this shit has been dysfunctional and broken for years now, the only difference is we don’t have one of the GOATs and a generational talent on the roster anymore.

Drew Lue and the boys are all equally responsible for this terrible lazy culture that we have, giving him a deal beyond this year is the definition of insanity.

Oh god please no

This is when I wish there was a "scary" feed back option. You know it's Halloween.

I expect Gilbert to push for a college coach but you never know. I think Mike Brown might finally have stopped getting checks from the team for the first time since 2005. Probably time to hire him again, no?

I want to see David Blatt 2.0. Let's settle the Blatt/Lue argument once and for all. He also gave by far the best and most entertaining press conferences. I want to max entertainment value from this team.

Coaching a bunch of young guys will also give Blatt max opportunity to be a wizard and minimize the nerd getting walked over by star players factor.

If Drew decides to get stubborn, what about Posey? I truly don't know, which is why I'm asking.

As for the offseason...if it is just an interim hire, then we'd most likely have hired a new, permanent HC by the time free agency rolls around anyway, and I think prospective free agents are more likely to put weight on who that is than on the interim coach was.

It really, really sucks that Lue wasn't fired at the end of last season so we'd already have the guy in place, though....

I wouldn't mind Blatt or Messina.

Just another episode in the Stupid Parade. I don't know what it will take before people admit our FO doesn't actually know what they're doing and Gilbert, while I love how he spends, is a bad manager.

I feel like Larry Drew has a point. He should get 1 year extra, even if they decide to fire him in the summer.

Mike's contract was spread out over 6 years after he was fired. He is on the books until 2020. Just in time for him to be hired again after firing whoever is hired this year.

I'm not sure if it is fair to blame the FO for Lue not being fired. That clearly is a decision that would have required Dan's approval. There were a fair number of rumors last season that he was going to be gone one way or the other at the end of the season. For whatever reason, it didn't happen. I suspect he's the guy who sold Dan on the idea of "I can win with the veterans while we also rebuild."

true, I was including Gilbert as part of the FO because he is pretty clearly a source of a lot of the problems. By "FO" I meant the non-coach, non-player side of the Cavs that consistently fucks things up.

I gotta respect Larry Drew for negotiating like he's the only person who knows how to fly the millenium falcon when in reality, navigating this team is more like this:

I like Stackhouse and Hammon. My only concern with Hammon would be the backlash that the organization would get if it doesn't work. If she's good enough for Pop, she is good enough for me.

What about the Utah assistant? Igor something? I've heard his name mentioned.
