Cavs Draft News Tweets

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Right now I really wish there were a thanks button!

so... "User Snarly says thanks for this useful post"

You can always go old school rep with the star shaped button on the bottom left of my post. ;)

MoFlo saved this thread. If only there was some Thanks to give right now, this board feels so empty without it.

word. I've been passing out old-school rep. Feels foreign.

Hickson is at a low value point? He avged 17/11 after the All Star Break ...

Teams know we have to trade him, which makes them far less willing to blow our doors off since they know he is going to have to be moved one way or the other. The league knows now the Cavs have intention of re-signing him, so the knowledge that at worst he is a free agent next off season may keep teams that otherwise were interested from really bidding knowing he can be had in the off-season for nothing in return.

My thing is I think Honeycutt could have been in the rotation 3 eyars from now when we are ready to compete. Also, I am convinced Jonas was the 3rd player on on our baord behind Irving and DWill and we passed becuase we did not want to wait a year. Sick of hearing every hear we have assets to get an extra 1st rounder and not see it happen. Not using the TE is a huge downer, big eason why I was okay with agreeing to the singand trade instead of telling Miami to go skrew themslves. Well at least we have the extra 1 st rounders, (unless we trade those away for future second round picks)

Haha already on It.... TT will end up being better than JJ I agree. Do you see a front court of JJ and TT working together at the C and PF of course?

There's always overreaction after things like the draft and the trade deadline. So many had huge expectations and some believed every rumor that came out to be 100% factual. Many of us have learned to keep an even keel and be patient.

Keep saying it's wait and see now. Thompson was a highly rated prospect and there was enough that came out to indicate he was a very real possibility for the Cavs. I wanted Cavs to go best player available and that's what they did according to their board.

There were some players I liked at #32 but two #2's for Harper (who I wasn't a big fan of) isn't a bad deal. Harper was also drafted for Orlando in a likely prearranged deal.

I did bring up Lighty as a possibility at #54. Nice prospect who I was surprised wasn't drafted but it's not a big deal at all to pass on him.

There's still much more to come. This is just one more step in the process. I like that it still appears that a long term rebuild is what the Cavs are doing and they're not trying to make rash moves to win a few more games right now.

By low value I mean that teams know that we are looking to dump him now. They will then lowball. If we balk at the lowball offers, and the sea on starts, it will then be tough to get him the playing time to put up the impressive numbers ( assuming they want o give Thompson the time so he ca start developing).

Selling high is trading him sometime over the last several monhs while he is still hot, but not while we have his replacement on the roster.

Don't pay any attention to what the media says the cavs were or were not interested in. I have a conspiracy theory with the Jonas V thing anyway. I think the Cavs floated the Jonas V. thing to scare San Antonio away from SacTown's 7th pick so the Cavs could try and step in. San Antonio and Sac were apparently close to having a deal done today. Of course it didn't work out for the Cavs, but I think the Jonas V. talk was more smoke than fire.

It could but Byron Scott likes size hence the fact he told Grant at the trade deadline to bring in a big with size(Erden). JJ and TT could work for half the season just to get JJ's stats up and trade him while his value is really high but eventually he will be traded for players and/or picks.

Exactly. Frustration is expected, heck, I was. Credit some to personal bias and preferences. We've had a plethora of articles, tweets, stats, measurements and what-not. We had mock-drafts putting the team in "likely" being able to "control" the draft and get the good players (by definition, the players who were highly rated by everyone in general). In the end, the Cavaliers front office listened to themselves and executed things their own way.

Do we as fans have the right to be frustrated? Yes, to a certain extent.
Do we as fans have to call fro the entire front office's heads (because our own expectations were not met)? HECK NO!

100% agree.

I tried to warn people a couple days ago, but once again this board fails to temper their expectations & wants to believe everything they read when they should be taking everything with a grain of salt.

So are you to blame for this incredibly annoying catch phrase taking over RCF for the last few days? :chuckles:

Agree with this, but there were also reports that said we fell in love with Thompson. Obviously, those reports were true, so it shows not everything is B.S. and smokescreens.

Easy to forget that the Cavs already have three seven footers:

Varejao (6-11), Hollins, Erden. We know what Varejao can and can't do.

If Erden can look something like Asik, you have a decent situation against many other teams. We also saw that Hollins can score at the rim with a decent PG and play decent defense. Both can be decent backups and hopefully decrease Verajao minutes to reduce risk of injury and help him maintain his defensive intensity at its highest level to close games.

Solid PF rotation:
Hickson, Thompson, Samuels

Cavs will have the ability to mix and match depending on the opponent. Versatile front court with some talent Definitely something to build upon. Thompson likely to get some defensive SF minutes.

Hope they can pull off a solid young wing player with 15 PPG scoring and decent defense thru a TPE/Boobie or Sessions trade (Sessions preferred as Gibson has to be classified as a SG) to add to Eyenga and Gee.
