Raptors made moves to compete against the cavs. They went small against the bucks after losing homecourt advantage. The line up of lowry/derozan/powell/carroll/ibaka beat the length advantage of the bucks. I wonder if casey would do that against the cavs. Putting jv off the bench also gave them some offensive punch in the 2nd line up.. I am a bit wary of them.. They have depth and a center which TT struggled against in his past match ups with jv..

If we can defend at least on average, we can dispose them early. But i dont trust this year's cavs defense. I am sure derozan would go off and ibaka would pose a challenge as a defensive center.

This might be a good series and it could go to 7..

Who the heck voted Raptors in four? I need answers.

Im really struggling to decide. Seems like half of us think theraptors are legit and the others think they are done before they start.

Ibaka is better than biyombo in general but biyombo played out of his mind the last 5 games of the series so not sure if ibaka can have that level of impact. Patterson was terrible last year and missed a ton of threes so he might bounce back.

On the other hand the cavs posted a great offensive rating first series and no body even thought they played well, we have deron on the bench who can match up with lowry and shump, jr are used to playing derozen.

i tihnk the series goes 6 games in the end

Raptors are improved this go around but they have their problems like everyone else starting with Lowry's so called 'bad back' and recent wrist issue.

And when I say improved I mean Norm Powell is better than Ross, they have a healthy JV this time, Ibaka can impact a game or 2 like Biyombo. PJ Tucker is pretty much a wash with James Johnson.

Cavs will win easily because Raps can't match up with our 2 best players on defense, while Cavs can throw bodies at Derozan and make a hobbled Lowry work a little bit.

I really don't know what to expect score wise. I just see Cavs winning in 5 with Toronto winning game 3.

I got a scoop for you! The full series schedule hasn’t been announced yet, but I do have dates and times for the first 4 games:

EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS - SECOND ROUND

(2) Cleveland Cavaliers vs. (3) Toronto Raptors

Game 1 -- Mon. May 1, Toronto at Cleveland, 7 p.m., TNT

Game 2 -- Wed. May 3, Toronto at Cleveland, 7 p.m., TNT

Game 3 -- Fri. May 5, Cleveland at Toronto, 7 or 8 p.m., ESPN

Game 4 -- Sun. May 7, Cleveland at Toronto, 3:30 p.m., ABC

Games 5-7 TBA

The OP has been updated accordingly with this info.

not good that none of these games has a 2 day rest...

Cavs in 7.

Raptors have great offense which great Milwaukee D made look bad. Milwaukee doesn't have great O, so hard to get much read on improved Toronto D, but they were great after ther break, improving by 2.5 points over season long Defense.

People underestimate how good Toronto is because they underestimate the quality of the Bucks athleticism which made their playoff D much better. Lowry could cause Cavs a lot of problems. Maybe that one game should mean more than the prior three, but given the Cavs recidivism to bad habits, I'll need to see more than 4-6 quarters of solid D play to be convinced. Seen them look good then look like Tori Spelling on a bender.

Raptors going to give Cavs all they can take. Gonna be a nightmare trying to stop DeRozan who no longer needs to draw as many fouls to score heavily and is much better distributor. Ibaka at the 5 is going to cause the Cavs all kinds of nightmares. We'll see if Patterson/Carroll can handle Love in the post, and if he becomes a passive floater like he did later in the last series. Lowry is a fine defender so that's some bad news. But not seeing anyone able to handle LeBron, not really feeling PJ Tucker is big enough and Carroll hasn't done shit since leaving Atl.

We'll see how diverse the scoring is. Can see the Cavs really coming out and putting the hammer on them the first two games then falling apart in Toronto just like last year. Expect it to come back to Cleveland 2-2. But also see LeBron being worn down by a grueling 7-game series. Toronto is a more physical team with additions of Tucker and Ibaka. Cavs will need to match that intensity, something they've struggled to do at times. Worried about LeBron having to shoulder too much load late in games and starting to tire. Even in great shape, playing 44 minutes is grueling and we KNOW that LBJ has a pernicious tendency to launch 3s and jumpers when he's tired. He's missed threes that gave the opponents to take a winning shot in the first round this year and next.

Cavs are the better team, but sometimes they seem so aware of it, they don't play as hard as their opponents. Don't think that will undo them, but do feel this is the Cavs toughest remaining EC matchup.

Agree with this. I picked Cavs in 6, like last year, but it could easily be 7. Not so easily, we could lose -- not saying we will, but it seems possible to me, a lot of others here think not.

All I can say is, I feel like last year's team was playing significantly better than this year's team and was less banged up, but still managed to drop 2 games to the Raptors. Plus, the Raptors are clearly deeper this year than last year. Not just Ibaka, Tucker, and JV being healthy, but Norman Powell coming on. Given that it's very hard for me to see this series being easy or a sweep.

Good news is, the flip side of thinking the Raptors are good is thinking that if we do win this series, especially in less than 7, then we will be battle tested and ready to roll for the ECF & Finals.

We have massive advantages almost across the board. Obviously DeRozan is a better player than JR, but outside of that?

The gap between Kyrie and Lowry, in the playoffs, is wide. Lowry has once again turned into a league average point guard in the playoffs. The gap between LeBron James and Carroll, who has been dog shit all year (and in their series against Milwaukee) is gigantic. Carroll is one of the absolute worst starting SFs in the league. He is THE worst starting SF in the entire playoffs, outside of whatever loser the Clippers trot out there.

A Raptors fan:

"Freak could be called for offence fouls everytime when he posts up or drive to the rim, he always uses his forearm to push player who guards him.... yes, he is good, but DD is much better now."

Good heavens.

And btw, DeRozan is shooting 10% from 3 in the playoffs and somewhere around 25% on the season. So, no point in crowding him out if you're JR. Give him a foot or two and defend his drives.

Just deleted round 1 from the dvr in preparation. I literally keep an entire series until a new one starts and maybe some choice games. Was debating keeping game 3 but then realized while epic it was in round one and I can't see myself rewatching a game in round one with two and beyond coming up. Even if epic, I'll reserve my limited dvr space for the conference and finals. Then when it's all said and done the only thing on my dvr will be the clinching conference win and only the wins in the finals with a parade attached days later and the dvr literally recording anything with the team name or any of the current roster, I have it set up. Obsessed much?

If Toronto tries that and puts Carroll on Kevin.. and Powell on LeBron... at the same time...

Hell yeah we got Barney

Series is going 7, Cavs need the Canadian fans and $$$$

Fuck Canada, they trying to pass of ham as bacon.

Cavs in 6....we will drop a game due to effort and Raptors will win one with their players playing up to their ability in one game. Cavs in 5 if we play defense the entire series. I don't anticipate that.

Love will be an X factor in this series, IMO. He typically owns Ibaka and bringing him out of the paint will be key to getting LBJ / Irving to the basket.

when the craptors go small it really plays well for us to get a ton of shooting on the floor with lbj at the PF. I think the raptors would really struggle to use small ball effectively against us as frye can play ibaka as he is not a post threat
