So a player developed in Europe shouldn't have crazy expectations for next year's playoffs, but the scrap heap at the end of the bench the Cavaliers are forced to carry shouldn't be overrated either. It's all about cost efficiency from 11-15 on the roster.

The nice thing being rosters expand next season. The Cavs will get two way contracts, which King James Gospel mentioned as a nice fit for Cedi potentially. Where he can freely go back and forth, playing for the Charge and the Cavs, while he gets his NBA sea legs.

"The rosters, which will expand from 15-man rosters to 17-man rosters next season, as teams will be able to sign two players to two-way contracts that makes them official Cleveland Cavaliers but will also make them players for the Canton Charge, the Cavs’ exclusive NBA Development League team.

The benefits of Osman signing a two-way contract would be that he gets to ease into the transition between the level of competition between the Euroleague and the NBA as well as the difference in rules, pace and style of play. On a team full of veteran contributors, signing a two-way contract also ensures that Osman doesn’t spend his first season in the NBA glued to the pine."

I honestly think he'll be good enough to play but roster expansion is interesting. Will allow teams (even good ones) to actually try to develop players.

We really need this kid to be good. Because given our lack of ability to improve the team going forward, and the fact our best player is 32 going on 33 next season.

If Osman ends up being a productive two-way player, this does so much for us.

1.) We don't have to grind LeBron James into the ground going forward.

2.) We need another good defensive wing player, with size, badly. He fits that bill.

3.) He gives us more youth/athleticism that we lack IMO.

From what I understand about the two-way contract stuff, Osman would have to take a massive cut in prospective pay and play most of his games in the D-League. Doesn't seem like it's as simple as sign him to a standard NBA contract and shuttle him back and forth all season.

This is from D-League Digest:

How much can a player earn?
According to a source, a player can earn approximately $275,000 per contract if they meet the maximum requirements.

A player on a two-way contract can spend a maximum of 45 days with the NBA team, at which they will earn 1/170 of the rookie minimum contract per day.

A player an NBA team wishes to designate with a two-way contract will receive $50,000 in training camp, a number that is paid by the NBA D-League and is not a salary cap hit against the NBA team. Any player that is signed in camp for more than the $50,000 maximum is not eligible to play for that team’s NBA D-League affiliate.

Efes fans talking about Cedi.. really think we should think hard about trading him for a 1st round pick or 2 2nds.
I don't think he is ready to contribute.

Honestly I don't think those guys really understand the intricacies of the NBA. Just because Cedi isn't a super-star in Europe does not mean he won't produce in the NBA. It's all about the way your game translates to the NBA+are your physical attributes good enough to compete in the NBA? I think Cedi grades out well into both of those categories.

As for trading him for a first or two second rounders...well, definitely a hard pass on the 2nd rounders. That'd be dumb.

It would depend on where the first rounder would land, combined with who on our draft board is available at that spot, combined with Cedi's rating as a propsect.
And it's dangerous to play the game of draft prospect musical chairs. At some point you gotta have a process to bring along the guys that you choose. We have been very closely involved with Cedi ever since we drafted him, and I think we should bring him over and try to develop him as a 3&D guy.

We are in a position where we don't even need Cedi to contribute right away next year. I only want him brought over because I think a year of an NBA strength & conditioning program, plus a training camp, a year of NBA practices, experience of watching a deep playoff run up close, and obviously being under the leadership and tutelage of guys like LeBron, Kyle Korver,RJ, Champ, etc...all of those things are invaluable.

I would trade him for a 18-25 pick if it ended up with us getting a guy like Justin Jackson.

Especially if the full tax payer MLE is enough to keep Deron Williams.

If we trade him for picks, we will couple said picks with a player other than Lebron,Kyrie and Love for a player with enough talent to elevate in the finals next year.

We cant stay static, as the Celtics will get a superstar added this year, and we will face Golden State next year..so we need someone who wont dissappear down the talent well.

While i love TT for his workman approach to the game, he is not evolving to the player we need him to be..so I think he and JR are the guys with enough value to bring back what we need with the pick.. Melo is not that guy.. we want someone that will be around when Lebron diminishes..

Melo is a logical add as long as the big 3 stay in tact.

I've been cooling on trading him for a so-so vet. We need some of these young, cheap players to work out.

Don't know if he's ready to contribute at all, but wings with his size and mobility are what we're looking for, so I wouldn't trade him unless the trade is a clearcut win.

I would imagine his deal is like Kay's in order to obtain bird rights. 3 years/ $2.4 mil. With a piece of the MLE being used. No way will he be a two way player next year. I could see that going to a guy like Moreland & a body from camp.

This kid is going to be good. We need him around this core of veterans as much as possible. RJ, Frye, Korver, all could play an impact in his development.

I think he is ready for a 12-16 Minute Role as a 3&D guy next season. He wont be great at either right from the Start but he will be solid. I doubt Cedi alone can get us someone alot better than him now.. and we cant just ignore his Upside. We have to invest in younger Players who we can grow. ONLY Veteran Ring Chasers wont cut it.
