Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why dick around and hold him hostage?

I like Darnold and Mayfield both more than Rosen anyway. They might have question marks, but in my mind, Rosen has even bigger question marks regarding his attitude, health, and decision making.

The dude is close as it’s been to Ryan Leaf since Ryan Leaf.

Why you all are infatuated with this motherfucker really has me concerned.

I think him wanting away from us is doing us a huge favor.

Completely agree minus the Ryan Leaf comparison. I think his comparisons to Jay Cutler are closer to right.

That counters what I've seen in the media.

Which is pretty much

Hue likes Rosen
Dorsey likes Mayfield and isn't a fan of Rosen.

I've never seen Allen come up. Like..ever.

I'm probably the only person on the planet who still really likes Josh Allen and would be OK with him being our guy. If we do this without making the Giants pay to move up to #1 tho...

I actually like Allen at the end of the day, but he shouldn't start from day one. He comes from the same school of college ball as Wentz and has the biggest chip on his shoulder so I think he will do well wherever he goes, but he will go through growing pains and will be a better QB if he sits behind a veteran QB for a season or two.

First, I think drafting a QB based on who your coach happens to be at a given moment is a dicey proposition. Perhaps it makes sense if you have a well-established coach that isn't going anywhere, but that's not our situation. A good coach - which is what we will be trying to hire - adapts the offense to the best talent, not the other way around.

Second, what difference does it make who Dorsey likes (again, talking about who we should pick, not who Dorsey will pick)? Under your theory, it should be the coach's preferred offensive style that controls, not the GM's.

I am not gonna disagree with you at all, but Dorsey is known to do whatever he wants when it comes to selecting players (hence why he was let go even though he has a winning record as a GM) Jackson is not his pick of a coach so good probability he will pick who he wants and with Rosen not wanting to come here, he's probably going to put him off the list.

He was in Green Bay as a scout when they acquired Favre and also Rodgers. He helped draft Mahomes. I don't have time this morning to look at all the QBs he has drafted, but I don't recall him ever going for a Rosen style of player. That leaves me then to say Jackson will also be off the list (sorry Los) cause of the fact that's not his style either. That will leave Allen, Darnold and Mayfield as his targets. Darnold is like Favre, Allen is like Wentz and Mayfield will end up being a more mobile Brees.

I am semi-ranting since Dorsey probably doesn't even have Rosen on his board, but those three compare to others he has been either a scout drafting (aka Darnold compared to Favre, then Allen to Mahomes since they are both, both strong armed QB) or Dorsey's recent public statement that says Mayfield has to be in the picture.

This whole thing is a toss up, personally I am high on Allen and feel he will be a scary QB if groomed properly but Mayfield is the guy we need cause of the intangibles of his character and his accuracy. I think he would work with most coaches and Dorsey may bring in a coach from the Reid tree eventually so I don't think they will have an issue with him there.

I don't care for Rosen, but if he doesn't want to play here, the Browns should just come out an announce they are taking him. Tell him to go back to school if he wants to. And then when we have the 1st pick next year, we can talk again.

Agreed. I'd be a big fan of an Alex Smith/Josh Allen pairing. If we're not going to bring in a real veteran answer to give him time, there's no point in drafting him.
