Cleveland Indians Rumors Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Missing out on Ludwick isn't a big deal although at least right now it doesn't appear the Pirates had to give up a lot for him. The hitter I would have wanted the most out of the ones who wouldn't cost a ton to get was Francouer although it doesn't seem the Royals were actively looking to move him.

Still not 100% sold on the Jiminez trade. Quality starter but the Indians did have to give up a lot to get him. I just don't think as highly of him as others do. The price to get him was the price you pay for a surefire #1 ace and I don't think he's at that elite level. His 2010 season is way above any other season he's had and even that year he was dominant before the all star break and slipped after it.
He is a big addition and it was a very bold move to get him though. Have to wait and see how the Indians now do, what other moves they make along with how long he stays here and how Pomeranz and White develop. Wouldn't be thrilled of Jiminez is pitching for the Red Sox or Yankees in 2014 while Pomeranz and White are solid starters in Colorado.

Oh, I'd be totally thrilled getting rings in 2012 or 2013 no matter where Ubaldo is pitching in 2014.

To get a little, you have to give a little. To get alot, you have to give alot. Sometimes more.

Because a player who you see 30-35 times a year, is the way to a ring.

A player you see 3 out of 7 starts in a post season series sure can be. The front end of your starting staff becomes paramount in the post season. The time when pitching takes over. Not sure if we'll have enough. But, this year it is certainly within reach to make the post season. If you get there, anything is possible. Especially with solid starting pitching.

This isn't basketball. It's why the Yankees don't win every year. The richest team with the most talent doesn't always win here.

Especially when he's part of a potentially young and dominant pitching staff in the postseason, where it becomes more important than ever to have good, clutch pitching. Just ask the 90's Indians and Jose Mesa.

That was just stupidity by a certain manager. He should never ever have pinch hit for Jackson at the top of the inning. He was unhittable that post season. He should have let him hit and pitch till he got in trouble. We'd have won the series. Oh well... woulda... coulda... shoulda's. The story of Cleveland sports.

And you can't get to the playoffs if you don't score runs. Our inability to score completely voids an excellent pitching staff. As I've told multiple family members who don't follow the Indians, we'd be running away with this division if we could score 4+ a game.

Yes he is if you get to the playoffs. We went from simply being satisfied to get to the playoffs this year and next year, to being able to go further than one playoff series win. Just this year alone could see us doing very well in the playoffs if we simply get there. Let's say Tomlin and Masterson continue to pitch real well. Let's also say Ubaldo pitches just as good as he for his last few starts, not including the one inning the other night. These three pitchers in a seven game series is one of the best combos for the playoffs:

Ubaldo
Masterson
Tomlin

You don't need 5 good SP. You don't even 4. If they are at the top of their game, only a few teams could match those three and I think they are in the National League. The Angels can come close but I take our three over them if we are pitching real well.

And next year? Oh my; if we are healthy, we will be the favorites to win our division next year.

Guys let me ask this, would u make this same deal for pence or matt kemp if the deal was on the table. I wouldn't. U can't trade ur best pitching prospects for a bat

I think we should all be excited for where this team is headed. Lots of injuries this year as well as some AAA guys getting their first exposure to the big leagues. Add in the fact that we've had some down years from players who are probably betterthan their stats show (see: Carlos Santana) and this is probably the worst this team will be for the foreseeable future.
