Walk me through what we got from the players we traded him for.

I'm by no means saying it was a home-run deal but you do not know what would have happened if we didn't trade him, and you do not know what other offers were on the table, if any. In an ideal world, LeBron was actually a good leader for our organization and worked shit out with Kyrie. That didn't happen.

Crowder would have been a perfect fit on our roster if he could get over the rivalry BS. He also struggled due to going from a good offensive system, to no offensive system. But he was a good defender who shot 40% from three with a high number of attempts.

And again, that pick was projected a lot better than #8. Do a Google search and you will find that most people graded the trade as an A or B+ for the Cavs. If the pick landed even in the top five I'm sure you would feel differently.

Look at what Minnesota got for Jimmy Butler, another superstar who demanded a trade (thus killing leverage). Two average rotation players and a second round pick.

Anyways this is the Collin Sexton thread so I'm willing to bet that a lot of this discussion will get deleted/moved but you are really taking advantage of 20/20 hindsight and making some assumptions that favor your opinions.

We won't know the final break down for years. Koby has done a good job so far of flipping players and creating a string of trades. George Hill and Rodney Hood came from using Crowder. Nance and Clarkson were obtain using IT's salary. Dekker was obtained by using a trade exception from the Kyrie trade. Henson and Delly plus the picks were obtained by trading George Hill. We will probably try to flip Hood at the deadline and Clarkson will most likely be dealt in the next year. I don't see Henson having a long term future with the team so it will be flipped at some point.

I explicitly labeled Collin in this graphic so it could stay in the thread.

It sucks we didn't get a better haul for Kyrie but trades for the future and now (then) rarely work. We shouldn't have ever wanted IT and Crowder but they wanted to help LeBron still win even though they knew he was leaving. I think they held out a slim hope he would stay.

I believe Koby paired with Gilbert's willingness to pay over the cap, they will figure out a way to build a competitive team. I don't think without the Kyrie trade and the bigger deal at the deadline last year, we would have the flexibility we currently have. Koby will keep flipping players to gain more assets and keep this teams flexibility open to pounce at the right trade targets in the future. You never know when the next James Harden deal will be our there.

I personally like the approach Koby is taking over whatever Chris Grant's plan was between 2009-2014.

Not what I was looking for. A serious representation in this format would have been appreciated. It appears the answer to my question is that no accurate current and complete accounting of the Irving trade appears on this site.

I call for a death match... Revisionists versus Apologists.

Well in the first half he was looking to pass and notched 4 assists, but in the second things kind of fell apart, but that was true of the whole team.

He did make some good passes in the 2nd half but guys didn't knock down their shots. He was directing traffic and guys were listening to him today.

I'd def say this was a good game for Collin development wise. AC commented during the game that Collin wasn't forcing it and was trying to get guys involved and then scoring when he got an easy opportunity. I thought that was a good observation.

In the second half he pressed and tried to go one on one

Funny how Larry is the offensive genius passing the ball, but Tristan does create space very well. He gets set so fast he gives the ballhandler an extra fraction of a second .

Hes a rookie point guard.. not sure what people expected.. he has the athleticism and handles to play at this level. He can score inside the arc. He needs to get better from long range which almost every pro does. He needs to learn the game and learn to set the table so he has space to operate.. that is going to take some time..

This loss was not on him. He was the second leading rebounder behind Nance. We got zip from the front court in that regard... IDK if that's a change in game plan or if we just didn't bring it..

There's "rookie" and then there's "raw".

If Sexton looked like a rookie, but showed flashes of a winning game like Waiters did when he was a rookie, that would be one thing. People might still crab, but there would be some good with the bad and plenty of room for optimism.

Sexton is raw. Dude is raw like a side of beef. Raw like a 1/2 priced sushi bar on a Sunday afternoon. Oysters from the Chesapeake raw. WWE smack down Raw. He has physical ability, but doesn't seem to know how to play team basketball above rec center level some days. At his best, he doesn't hurt the team, but those games are the exception, not the rule right now. Most of the time, he's a huge negative for the team. He's been so earth shatteringly bad, he is making Bennett look good, and Bennett didn't even try to look good most days.

Think about Oladipo. He was raw as hell his rookie year, but he didn't cause his team to lose like this.

Sexton has taken Raw to the next level.

So your for cutting him
Now ? Including him
In a trade? He is hopeless at 19 ? Worse 8th pick in history of draft ? You expected a all star at 8 ?
