Danny Green: Long Time, No See

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Best of luck to the guy but it was not even a close contest in the skills dept. when being compared to Harris.

Should have never signed Joey Graham. Waste of money and a waste of a roster spot.
Danny Green should still be on the team.

Some team will pick him up quickly. Danny has nothing to worry about, his jumper can keep him in the game.

Danny Green has plenty to worry about. His jumper his hot stinking garbage. I'd imagine he'll be a career bench warmer/D-leaguer.

Manny Harris is confirming this too...

Sooooo Ladorable

Good.Manny definitely deserved that spot more than Green did.

...i'm stupid if you saw what i had here before.

i'm glad manny got the spot

It does make me wonder if Green was working as hard as he could have been. He still doesn't seem comfortable with the NBA 3 point line, and his ball handling didn't improve from day one. Does anyone know if he was considered a hard worker in the gym?

That's a great question, but I just think a guy like him with limited athleticism and a lack a definite talent advantage in at least one portion of the game would have to work hard as hell just to be a role player. Think about it, what does Danny Green do well? He has to carve out a niche and that could take some time and still never be worth anything.

I just don't see enough upside to keep him so I say keep the kid that we know is a scorer. At least he does something. He might not be an all star, but at least you hope he can build up to be useful in some capacity and I just didn't see that happening with Green.

Best of luck to him

There were plenty of productive second rounders taken just before Danny, but not much after - including 10 guys who've yet to record a minute in the league because they're international players or never got the chance.

But before Danny, there was Chase Budinger, Marcus Thornton, Jonas Jerebko, DeJuan Blair, and Sam Young. We barely missed having a chance to take Budinger or Thornton.

I hadn't looked for a while at what members of the 09 draft had done, and the top half of the second round has actually been remarkably successful. Several other names from 1-15 in the second round that you didn't even mention including (Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham, Derrick Brown, plus some others who are still in Europe, Sergio Llull, Nick Calathes). The 2009 draft was belittled by some, but it is turning out to be rather deep.

The thing about Green is that NBA rosters aren't deep, and it's a bit of a luxury to devote spots to developmental players. The Cavs already have Eyenga and Samuels who are being carried on the roster but have yet to prove they are NBA players and will likely not play much at all. Manny Harris is the third developmental player. He beat Green out and there's just not room for both of them. I had been pushing for dropping Jawad, but Jawad has proved he is an NBA player, unlike these other guys, so I understand the decision to keep him over Green. Danny Green had a chance. He was a mid second round pick, and you don't get the benefit of the doubt as a second round pick two years in a row.

A lot of guys like Green take 2-3 years or more to stick in the league.

Great pickup. Veteran shooting presence who actually played quite well last year.

Anybody understand why he got 0 minutes in Memphis?

Edit: I googled this.... I am dumb.

He provides a ton of championship experience and more veteran leadership off the court. On the court, remains to be seen how much he has left in the tank but pre-injury was an excellent perimeter defender with his smarts (more than athleticism) and an elite off ball shooter
