Derrick Rose: Outta Here!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Its been an hour and I still don't know how to react to this.

Then I rememberred something. This is my reaction right now:-

Rose is not an outsider shooter so he won't help space the floor in that capacity. He is a guy who can handle the ball and penetrate which puts stress on the defense. How much he can still explode past guys is the big question. I can see Rose playing with Irving more often than not to give KI a little break offensively and allow him to spot up more.

If this happens, I would not be surprised to see him play more of the 2 guard, even start on occasion with KI at the point.

Would be a masterful signing in the Jeff Green mold.

So little risk and such an incredibly high payoff. This is all the Cavs can do right now is find guys with talent who have been meandering with bad teams and bad health and hope they hit some kind of pay dirt.

All I know is that Deron Williams got absolutely but fucked by the Warriors in the Finals in a horrendous way. I think at the very least Rose evens up the back up point guard potential with the outside chance of being the very best sub between the two teams-Igoudala, Livingston, Rose being the 3 candidates for that designation.

Its not like Rose is a marginal NBA player. This is a guy that averaged 18 ppg on 47 percent shooting and he could be coming off our bench?

Also the other thing is the Cavs don't need more shooters against the Warriors. We need guys off the bench that can attack the paint at will off the dribble in order to sink the defense. Would be a home run as a scoring option off the bench, almost unreal.

Crazy. I feel a bit negative on the rumor given Derrick's health history but I have no problem with his talent. He'd be a great backup or whatever.

I'm just tired of guys playing good/great then miss a ton of games. I'm tired of saying "it's early/mid season it's alright"

I want a damn player who can play throughout the season. The one who doesn't need a whole season of tuning up. A player who can show up even at least 85-90% of the games.

He did play 64 games last year which is fine and with us he would be playing 20ish minutes a game and provides us what we have lacked a scorer and play maker off the bench I would rather take a chance on Rose then Evans or Crawford who we passed on so I am happy with this rumor

DRose is still fairly explosive and can attack the paint with the ball at a good extent. IMO, going forward, thats the role he should embrace because he has it in him to be a very good 6th man off the bench who could provide instant offense like Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams.

I still don't know what I am more surprised about. The fact that no team went for DRose for more than MLE or something or the fact that WE are about to sign him for something around half of MLE. Eitherway, its a very interesting move. Because in terms of fit, its far from being ideal. DRose is fairly pointless without the ball and its not like he was ever a great facilitator either. So, can he play with someone like LeBron? Can he develop some sort of understanding with LeBron in the 2nd unit?

The good thing for us is, we are getting him for more or less a minimum contract. A perfect low risk, high reward kinda move. Also, he addresses one thing that we lacked big time in the Finals. Some sort of scoring off the bench. He would be able to contribute a lot more than DWill and Shump did on the offensive end. And he is easily better than Calderon and Felder.

Do the Cavs scout any other team players besides players from the Knicks? The Cavs/Knicks scouting team has done it again.

That be said, I like this move. With the Cavs having great outside shooters it will make it easier for Rose to score. Rose might have the comeback story of his career playing with the Cavs. Lue might also be the perfect coach for him.

Does he fit?

Last year he shot less than 1 three a game, so his percentage doesnt matter to much, but he is not a good 3 point shooter for his career, but i feel he could light up backup pg's and be a solid contributor for 25 mins a game.

He was among the league leaders in points in the paint ...he is still very hard for anyone to guard 1 on 1 so he should be able to drive and dish to our shooters or at least get the hockey assist with could ball rotation.. How nice would it be to see Livingston try to stay with Rose on D.. I'm pretty excited if this happens

Same. But I'm just gonna say it in light of looking salty: We miss a guy like Dellavedova. We need a guy who can take a bulk of PG minutes and even play most of it once Kyrie "rests" on longer time frames. A fresh Kyrie for Playoffs is great. I hope Derrick can maintain his newfound "sturdiness" if he intends to sign with us.
