Derrick Rose: Outta Here!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ha i'm sure magic will razzle and dazzle him...we need Lebron to get on the phone and get him on board

Too bad you guys don't have an actual GM to do that.

What a piss poor pitch but at this point this is all we got. :chuckle:

The pitch should be, look how much Delly and Mozgov got coming off our bench. You tried rehabbing your career on a bad team with the Knicks, how are the Lakers going to be different. Players get paid when they show they can be effective players on winning teams.

So how many point guards do the Lakers have and want now?

Hopefully Rose plays for the Cavs. I just hope Rose's agent is not using the Cavs to get a bigger pay day from the Lakers.

Contract year LeBron doesn't do such things.

He already worked on getting Jeff Green to come to the Cavs and he eventually signed for the minimum. And LeBron tried to get Crawford on board as well. Plus there are several reports speculating that LeBron reached out to Paul George too. So your statement clearly isn't correct.

Why do Cavs fans expect LeBron to pitch to every free agent anyway? What other team operates like that? Like not just the marquee Durant types, but for every free agent? If the only way a team can attract free agents is by having the team's best player convince free agents to come over, then what's the point of even having a front office?

Maybe you missed the memo on Golden State..
Their players do a lot of recruiting..know what I mean??

Rose has made so much $ in his career...2 mil difference isnt that much in the grand scheme is it?
Plus a deep playoff run puts a couple hundred thousand in his pocket. The Lakers can't offer that.

I don't remeber hearing such things. Just that Crawford reached out to LeBron not the other way. Miami Lebron and Kevin Love re-signing LeBron was jetting around the country to get guys on board.

Gotta to food and his table. Nobody else is going to.

If I'm Magic/Pelinka, I would pay whatever the Lakers can for Derrick Rose for a one year deal. It's a low risk, high reward move for a 28 year old former MVP with plenty of athleticism left. The signing doesn't tie up any cap space for 2018. But most importantly in the zero sum game between the Cavs and the Lakers in the chase for LeBron, it weakens the Cavs this season and makes it even more unlikely that the Cavs can field a competitive team against the Warriors. The Cavs will have one more potential big offseason move fall apart at the last second, thereby casting further doubt on the Cavs front office (or lack thereof). Ultimately it opens the door up just a little bit further for a LeBron exit, while simultaneously demonstrating that the Lakers have a competent front office with a plan and a direction.

On the other hand Derrick Rose has no real reason to go to the Lakers over the Cavs unless he is really motivated by the extra money. The Cavs give the chance for Rose to show himself off on the biggest stage and to play for a championship. That being said, Rose is the guy who was rumored to be seeking a max contract as recently as a few weeks ago and has made perpelexing comments before about wanting to have enough money for his son. And it cannot be discounted that when he walks into a Cavs meeting, he will be meeting with the likes of general manager Dan Gilbert and a relatively unknown Koby Altman...while in LA he will meet with the well-respected Rob Lowe clone Pelinka and Magic fucking Johnson.

I'd actually argue the opposite since Derrick Rose literally does nothing for them; it's just more "shit-throwing" at the wall like the Mozgov and Deng deals.
