Derrick Rose: Outta Here!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Love the new thread title. Got some bone thugs in my head now. Peace out D-Rose.

Should change the thread title to 1st Of Tha Month cuz that’s what D Rose is going to be excited about once he quits basketball for good

I’m not sure you understand the definition of ignorant. It’s not that i don’t know or understand where he is. It’s just that like any job where you have ups and downs you have to push through until the commitment is done.

I don’t want (and am not trying) to personally attack you here so I hope you don’t take it that way, but your viewpoint is just perplexing.

Continplating retirement mid-season means he didn’t have the mental strength to fully commit for the season in the first place. In a team setting when you quit mid season your quitting on everyone not just yourself. It’s not like he and the team and all the fans or anyone who watches the NBA thought this would be the season Rose wouldn’t get hurt.

How are you not understanding that he is injured, and because of said injury he feels like he can’t be 100%, possibly ever again? And if he’s not the same physically, he probably (correctly) feels he can’t help this team or really be a productive player in the league anymore. It’s not like he’s perfectly healthy and just deciding not to play.

That’s not what’s happening here and mental strength really has nothing to do with it. All the mental strength in the world is not fixing his ailing body.

Yea I’m not gonna miss him and his game at all. Personally I hope his mental state is fine but as a Cavs fan — bye !

Remember the time when you had D Rose > All as your sig under the name? What a time.

Bruh!

That was Don Rose. Perhaps the greatest pitcher who went 1-4 that nobody remembers ?

You can't help but feel bad for him. That miserable stretch of basketball he had after his 2011 peak-season had him equally sitting as much as he played:
  • 27 missed games in 2012
  • 72 missed games in 2014
  • 31 missed games in 2015
Not even counting the entire missed season or the 20+ he's missed the last few seasons...

But I hope he considers every option he has for his future in basketball. He could end up regretting the choice if he's not careful. If you look back at great players with career-threatening injuries, it worked out well for some of these guys, while others moved on after trying several options:
  • Bill Walton tried to come back several times. Even though it was never back as an all-star, he at least played out the rest of his career as a sixth man.
  • Yao Ming on the other hand tried the same procedure that gave Zydrunas Ilgauskas the opportunity to finish out his career (foot operation), but couldn't play and retired.
  • Grant Hill was no longer the star he was before 2000, but was able to have a decent career despite the injuries.

Hope he comes back..has proven this year he is still a valuable contributor..even if he is severley managed.. and only olay every second game until playoffs

I feel bad for the guy. I've never been a big fan of him but to me it seemed he gave his best effort to return at the highest level, he took a "show me" contract and bet on himself, he worked hard and had a great attitude. His game isn't the best fit and I don't know just how he'd contribute even if healthy. Now the injury bug hits again. Constant, never ending rehab is the hardest thing you can do and it takes a hard toll. I'm rooting for the best for him whatever he decides.

The team has been significantly better with him off the court compared to on.

Rose should hold a press conference, decision style.

Unlike most I think Rose has a role to play on this team and was unfairly criticized early on.

He was asked to play a role outside of his capability due to the injuries and the team put the ball in his hands too much to create on the first unit.

You can't judge him until he's in the role he was signed for. The 10-15mins off the bench resting Thomas and pushing the ball. Relying on a 35 year old Wade to push the ball all season is not great. Also, for all Calderon's praise he's still cooked as a player.
