Derrick Rose: Outta Here!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If your heart is not there, then you retire. That's what should happen..

I think it’s the grind of rehabilitating after injuries that has him mentally frustrated. I personally feel for him and hope he comes to a conclusion he can live with but it’s nice to see the team behind him.

Don't think he even has a role when IT comes back. Wade seems to be running point on the second team and you could still use Calderon to spell IT 10-15 minutes/game if you wanted to. He'll be riding the bench. Not sure how much of a happy camper he is going to be doing that.

So mentally soft.
Think this is an ignorant take. Obviously it’s recurring, serious, and possibly permanent physical issues that are affecting his mental state. Clearly it’s serious enough that would make him question whether he even wants to play again. It’s not an unreasonable thought to have.

From Vardon, here's what D Wade said on the topic:

Wade considered retirement after the 2013-14 season because of injuries. "Obviously I can't say I understand what he's going through, but I understand what he's going through," Wade said. "I definitely had a moment in my career a few years back where I was thinking about retiring myself. It's hard when you're dealing with injuries after injuries after injuries -- it takes a toll on you mentally.<

"This game brings so much joy to guys and it brings the opposite as well. It will take you to the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. If you're not mentally where you need to be it affects you with your family, it affects you in your day to day. You're just hurting. When you're hurting you're frustrated and sometimes you think about walking away from the game. I definitely thought about it. I'm glad I didn't."

I’m not sure you understand the definition of ignorant. It’s not that i don’t know or understand where he is. It’s just that like any job where you have ups and downs you have to push through until the commitment is done.

Continplating retirement mid-season means he didn’t have the mental strength to fully commit for the season in the first place. In a team setting when you quit mid season your quitting on everyone not just yourself. It’s not like he and the team and all the fans or anyone who watches the NBA thought this would be the season Rose wouldn’t get hurt.

So yes i think he is mentally soft, personally don’t care if you agree with me.

Well, the Cavs only gave him the minimum for a year, put him on a minutes restriction, and have played other guys over him in winning time (as they should because they've been bad with him on the floor).

I'd hardly say the Cavs were super committed to him in the first place.

I think the minute restriction was a clear commitment to his long term health and wanting to get him to that point. They handed him the starting job every time he was healthy to play as well. Sure, they had him on the bench at the end of some close games, but that hardly screams non-committal to me. I think the Cavs were very interested in helping him rehab his career.

Doesn't hold a lot of water does it? Almost like being overly critical of a guy taking some time to figure out if his body will allow him to continue playing at a high level, while already out with a potential season ending injury, doesn't hold a lot of water... no?
