Draft Trade Speculation and Rumors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Dallas Deal has alot of bite to it but im not so sure about Indiana. Indiana after this series is in contend mode. people seem to undervalue Granger but i dont believe the pacers do. the main thing hurting his value is his injury. I think if the pacers dont get what they are looking for . they will just keep him for next season and shop him at the trade deadline where they could ge better value. Pacers are in no danger of going iver the luxury tax and if they did get in that situation in the offseason they dont have to stay for long.

Pacers are in good shape salarywise.

Anyone think we could get the Wizards or Magic pick with AV,2014 1st pick,#19 and one of the 2nd rounders this year??? That would mean we could get Noel and then jump back up again to get Porter as well..

Pretty awful trades, why would Cavs hand the Bulls Kevin Love for Deng when we could just sign Deng in 14'. The other trades have us trading Andy for dimes on the dollar.

Wasnt saying they were good trades just throwing it on here to show what ppl are saying...

Any trade idea that has the Cavs giving up a 2014 is horrible (not directed just at you)

It's horrible because the Cavs have said time and time again they are trying to get additional #1 picks for the 2014 because it's supposed to be stacked so it's unrealistic to expect them to give up a 2014 #1 unless they are getting a player like Kevin Love

I can understand that but say we go forth and take Noel, how many players ecspically high caliber say superstars could we sign from 2014??? i dont think theres enough money to go around for TT,Waiters,Irving,Noel and then more 2014 players...Or i could be wrong dont know much about the new cap

2014 may be a deep draft, but the talent in the teens where we'll be drafting is still far inferior to what's available in the early lottery this year. If we can use the 2014 pick to get a player we think is an all-star, we do it.

The trouble with your philosophy is that you want to put packages together like you would for all star players. But, instead, you are using them on picks that you "hope" are all stars. It's a recipe for disaster. I'd prefer actual patience and wait for those all stars to become available due to salary cap issues created by the new CBA, where we swoop in and and use those same assets to gain an actual all star player. Not just a player that is potentially one, but hasn't even set one foot in the NBA.

(note: working under the assumption that we're talking about Porter here)

Sure, it depends on just how good we think the player we're getting is. If we think we can fill the SF slot with a comparable player for the same price later on, we do that. Realize that there's risk there too, though. Look at the top 20 SFs by PER (sorry if you're not a PER guy, bear with me):

The top 3 are obviously unattainable (unless you're banking on LeBron coming our way). George, Leonard, and Batum seem like nice fits, but we'll have a hell of a time trying to pry one of them away. I think Porter clearly helps us more than anyone else on that list. Iguodala is another possibility I suppose (listed under SG), but he has a huge price tag. Even with the new CBA, an all-star SF isn't just going to fall into our arms.

The SF no one has mentioned in a long time is Gallo (because injury)

Nuggets may have to come off him when they goto re-up Kevin F

I think Gallo will be the obtainable on the cheap side because of injury, even more so if Iggy picks up his PO, which I think he will do. Can't see Iggy giving up 14$mil because he is not going to get that as a FA

They would jettison Chandler before moving Gallinari.

Not true at all. Chandler is cheaper and can play SG/SF/PF with solid defense. Gallinari will make a little over $10 million next season; they would definitely rather keep Chandler.

This is surprised me at first, given Chandler's amount of missed games the past 3 years, but Dano has missed a bunch as well. What surprised me even more is that Dano hasn't cracked 42% shooting the past three years. Chandler does appear to be the better value both financially and versatility wise.

Exactly. I also see Gallinari as the odd guy out since they might lose their GM, Uriji to the Raptors. Whoever their new GM is, they will look to clear money for Faried and Igoudala next season.

If not Gallinari, McGee will be shopped around.

Both Chandler and Gallinari would require the Cavs to take on salary past 2013-2014. I think Gallinari's getting paid almost $12M in 2015-2016 and Chandler has a team option for $7M that same year. That's a big pretty commitment to take either of them on. Gallinari is also coming off a torn ACL.

If the Cavs draft Noel and sign Gallinari/Oden, they could lead the league in number of players coming off a season-ending (or multiple-season ending) injury.

I agree that Denver may shake things up, especially if they can't even raise the money to reward their NBA-award-winning executive enough to keep him away from Toronto.

^ Yeah, Gallo I would never want purely for performance reasons let alone his contract.
