Dream Team 4: Golden State Warriors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think it's similar to Giannis. It kind of just started clicking for them but takes longer to realize that they have this ridiculous vision. People haven't accepted the fact that bigger guys know how to pass the ball...

Yeah but Giannis is electric. He looks like a superstar to the casual fan the moment he sees his highlights.
When the casual fan looks at Jokic, he just doesn't seem that good or impressive. Like I said, he looks fat, can barely dunk and runs like an uncoordinated middle age woman. That until you see his boxscore stats and see he does what he does on a regular basis. Then you watch some more highlights or even a full game and you get familiar with what he can do and how diverse he is on the basketball court.

My comment was more about their vision. But yeah, totally get it. He's kind of like the old guy at the gym who is deceptively fast and has a higher BBIQ than pretty much everyone there. Except Jokic is young AF.

Umm, what? Do you guys seriously need a list of reasons for why people, let alone Cavs fans, can't stand the Warriors? I know you both pay close enough attention. You should be well aware of a variety of reasons for why people don't like them. Yeah, they are obviously very good, but so what? People don't care enough to overlook their bullshit. Shitting on the Warriors feels good because those insufferable fuckers deserve to be shitted on. Nobody is disrespecting the Cavs; you're reading too much into it.

I think you missed the point. Nobody here likes the Warriors, but their comment, which I agree with, is not understanding why people feel the need to undersell just how great of a team the Warriors are.

All of the "Green is just a system player," and "Curry is only one-dimensional," and "Klay isn't even that good," type of shit.

Because fuck them, that's why.

Also, your examples aren't underselling the team, they are underselling the individuals. There is a difference.

I mean I gave a few examples, but I think you get the idea. Not sure this is really worth arguing semantics on.

No doubt. Just had enough of Warriors apologists over the last few years (not saying you or others here are).

Is Jokic already the best center in the league? What if he does, in his first season as a full time starter, what DeMarcus Cousins hasn't managed to do in his entire career, and lead a team to the playoffs? And it's a team with roughly the equivalent talents as Sacramento has.

I mean, maybe it's crazy, but yea I think Jokic is probably better than Cousins. Already.

Denver have better talent than Sacramento though.

Gallo, Murray, Mudiay, Barton, Chandler are all better than anything Sacramento have bar Collison and Rudy Gay.

Also, I would take KAT over Jokic.

Jokic is is very good. But he is the flavour of the month now.

Offensively due to his passing, Jokic probably has the edge. But KAT has a high ceiling defensively. In a league which is based entirely on PnR, teams would constantly exploit Jokic on PnR and he isn't a good defender at all. KAT himself has hardly covered himself in glory either on the defensive end but he has the attributes to be a good defender.

One thing about Jokic though, he is already the best passing big man in the league. Forget big man, his passing is absolutely elite even if you ignore he is a 7ft monster. Very Sabonis-esque. Those one handed passes to the perimeter are crazy!

Yup. Giannis is going to be a legit two-way superstar though. Jokic is an offensive beast and so much fun to watch (to me more fun than Giannis), but I'm just not sure if he'll ever be at least an average defender.

I despise the Warriors, Rob. I know I don't have to tell you that. :chuckle:

I think they're a collection of entitled little punks. I think they bend the rules to gain advantages. I think Saint Steve Kerr is a piece of shit which is apparently an unpopular opinion, but I don't care. I think Steph is over-glorified by the media. I think Draymond is the most despicable human in sports. I think Iguodala should shut the fuck up and admit he's committed a foul once in his life. I think Kevin Durant is a disgrace to the game of basketball and as long as I live I will argue such.

What I can't understand is when people go out of their way to convince themselves and others that this Warriors team is somehow not easily the most talented team of all time and arguably one of the best teams of all time. It is what it is, and it's not praising them. They got lucky with the finances in a big way. And they've also gotten ridiculously lucky with injuries in a big way. Stuff has gone their way and they haven't earned everything that they've achieved. But the fact remains that they're a juggernaut.

And admitting and embracing that puts an even bigger smile on my face when I think back to what we did last June.

i guess we just all have different ways of hating those Bay Area bitches.

Its very hard to believe that Jokic was picked 41 or something like that, what in the fuckity fuck are these GM/Scouts doing? They didn't see his potential? They didn't see how well he shoots, passes, rebounds, rim protects? Man what an absolute steal of the century for Denver.

He is already a average defender.. I mean I know he is below average for a starting Center if you look at DRPM. He is currently at 0.67 DRPM and his DBPM is at 1.5.
He is a great rebounder so that counts and he is only going to improve as a defender once his conditioning catches up. Still, he isn't a minus defender.

He is already a average defender..

I do not believe that. I'm willing to hear you out though if you have some stats backing that theory up :) He seems to have such a poor defensive awareness... The lack of athleticism hurts too. Seems terrible covering the PnR.
