Dream Team 4: Golden State Warriors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Warriors are still being treated as the favorites to win it all based on reputation alone, while Houston looks like the best NBA team in the last 2-3 years. I think the Rockets will come out of the West and wipe the floor with any Eastern Conference team.

Steve Kerr announced today that Steph Curry won’t be playing in the first round.

This is going to be a really interesting Western playoffs...

Steve Kerr was pretty emphatic with his 'no way' response lol

Is Kawhi coming back for the playoffs though? Would be interesting to see the Spurs against the Warriors in the first round.

I mean, that seems to me like the best (realistic) case scenario for the Cavs right?

RD1: SAS vs GSW
RD2: OKC vs GSW
WCF: GSW vs HOU
Finals: CLE vs HOU

Not that we'd be the favorites against Houston; but I do like our odds in that matchup. I also think SAS with Kawhi might be close to even money against a Durant-led Warriors team, especially if he gets potentially re-injured??

That would mean the Warriors are eliminated, and honestly, I dunno if Harden's game will completely translate into late playoff series play -- I kinda doubt it.

I mean, if Kawhi coming back is realistic, then yeah.

Otherwise, I'm hoping OKC falls to 7 and plays GS in the 1st round.

He is cleared to play ... If he sits out the first round against the Warriors -- I'd honestly think he was done with the Spurs.
Everything I've read says he's not coming back this year.

But, it's the Spurs, so who knows.

I will be so pissed if this happens and the Cavs choose this year to lose in the East.

I still don't understand what is going on with that situation. The only team I really don't want to play the Warriors is the Pelicans. I don't think they have the firepower with Boogie down. Or Spurs if Kawhi is out.

Man, it sucks that Kyrie wanted out. With GS banged up, we could have easily been the favorites. Now it's probably going to be tough to get out of the East. Even then, Raptors are probably our only competition with Boston banged up.

I'd feel pretty good about our chance against the Rockets if our team wasn't so new. If we can stay healthy and develop some good chemistry through the playoffs, I'd take that though. I still can't tell how good we actually are, but circumstances have opened the door for us to have a chance.

I think a Curryless Warriors team will have a tough time against Utah, Denver, Minny (with Butler), and of course the Spurs with a healthy Kawhi. I think only the spurs with Kawhi being Kawhi would actually have a chance to possible win the series, but the others would play them tough.

Curr’s their engine and the guy who makes them go. Additionally, IF Draymond’s and Iggy’s and Livingston’s respective declines are for real and not just regular season ennui (in Draymond’s case), then things could get really interesting. Without Curry, they really only have shooting from two guys and possibly Young if he gets hot.

Really don't care who the Warriors face. Want the Cavs to handle their own business first before worrying about anyone else.
