Goodbye Larry Nance Jr.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’d give him 8-11M per year. Ankle sprains happen to everyone. So far no mention of the dreaded “high ankle sprain” so hopefully they just take it cautious with him and if he misses a game or two to start the season, so be it.

He is sorta injury prone. I really like him, but let's not kid ourselves..he is not better than Montrezl Harrell who got a two year 6m per deal. I think Larry is what he is at this point. He will attempt more threes this season, but I don't see him becoming much more than what he is. Hopefully he will though cause you really never know.

I see Larry as a far more skilled/impactful player than Harrell. Obviously, some of that is one upwards projection and I do believe this is the critical year for Nance to show that. Given the cap moving up within the 120M+ range in the next few years and Sexton/Cedi on rookie deals for several more years, I think Larry at 8-11M per year would prove to be a very good deal.

Far more skilled in what? Harrell is a much better offensive player and Nance is a better defensive player. Harrell is just far more skilled offensively.

As far as upwards projection, I expect Harrell to actually make a huge leap this year. I can't say the same about Nance.

Harrell is almost an impossible guard for opposing centers because of his aggressive style and his off the dribble game. He is a better all-around athlete than Nance. Nance beats him in IQ, defensive instincts and passing; but as far as being an overall offensive player, Harrell just beats him pretty comfortably. Did you watch Harrell a lot? I really expect a big season from him. He is a beast.

Anyways, this is not to say that Nance should only command 6M...not at all. 6M per for Harrel is a damn steal. I would be fine with 8-11M for Nance..no doubt about that.

This is the reason that I do not like Nance at fulltime center... His body just can't take the continuous pounding throughout the nba season, specially with his style of play, he already had various injuries in his short career... I think it is best if he plays 6th man energy combo pf/sf and just a situational center, he would be a great backup to KLove...

Serious question, does this style of play(fast pace, running like mad men) has potential to cause more injuries? minor or severe?

If the players don't have the conditioning to run like that and they do so anyways because they are being told to, then it can't be all good?

Guys need to be transparent and Lue needs to use quick subs because I don't think this pace is really that sustainable like that if you want to remain healthy. Right?

I don't mind a fast pace at all; I just think you need to mix it up a little because not everyone is able to run like that for 30 minutes every game and in practice...unless you are willing to risk an injury.

Really hard to tell without solid statistics, GSW plays fast but they are relatively healthy while Grizzlies play slow but they get injured a lot. .. I think its just really depends on the body of the player (its different for everybody), some players just can't take the constant pounding of the long nba season even at tip top condition, thats is why durability is also an ability.

I have no worries about Zizic. He will get his chance with Nance injuries. Short term may have more injuries, but I'm guessing guys being in shape will mean fewer over the course of the season

PF/SF? What the serious fuck?

He’s a center in every way possible. He’s not a PF in today’s game. If injuries dictated what position players play then love wouldn’t be a 5 or a 4.

Pretty reasonable deal honestly. It feels like the first time since pre Lebron we actually signed a player based on his actual basketball value rather than his ties to the King. Hopefully he outplays the contract but even if he stagnates a little it’ll still be a fair price

His skill is center, but his height, body type and durability is more suited for PF and a little SF... As much as I like to see him to succeed at the center position, I just don't think his body is going to survive the beating even in todays nba where teams try to play small ball, you can notice how he wore down near the playoffs after playing well with the caves after the trade... he has been injury prone since college because of his frenetic style and his body might not be that durable by nature (not his fault), kinda like Varejao in that sense... Never been a fan of Love at center, for me he is a PF plain and simple based on skill and physical attributes. ..
