Hooroo, Andrew Bogut. (A blimey broken tibia)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Frye isn't a bad post defender though. I do agree, but I am surprised his numbers are higher than TT's in that regard though. Even with his height advantage.. That's his one strength defensively though with Frye.

Frye is just not a good defensive 5 at all.

I just want to take a second to talk about our roster's change over the past two years.

In the 2015 NBA Finals, we were playing LeBron, Delly, Shump, JR, Tristan, Mozgov, and James Jones.

We'll potentially have Kyrie, Deron, Shump, JR, Korver, LeBron, RJ, Derrick, Love, Frye, Tristan, Bogut. That's twelve deep, and every single one of them is better than the end of our 7-man rotation from two years ago.

We're loaded and ready to go into battle. Just get healthy.

I feel like TT defense overall goes up another notch in the post season. Is he a great post defender? No, but he holds his own, and is capable of using his quickness and sometimes strength to still bother bigger centers.

He really did a great job bothering Drummond in the post-season, although he's not one of the better skilled offensively centers, but still.

He's always going to struggle against the very skilled 7 foot center footers though. The Pau Gasol's of the world have always given him some fits. Just too long and too skilled with their footwork.

I can't deny I'm more excited about this team's chances against an even steeper hill, than I was at this time last year. Picking up Williams -- not signing Farmer so he had the spot, then IDK how, but Deron and perhaps Bogut? To go with Korver, which we can see now was a SICK upgrade on Dunleavy. I'm so surprised his D is so good, and Williams has shown the kind of athleticism that only our biggest stars have, filling another hole.

When this season began GSW had a marked talent advantage. For the second season in a row they've played their regular season with a focus the Cavs have always lacked. I even believe they are tougher than last year. But the Cavs are going to be more talented, and now I'd take the Cavs bench over the Warriors bench 8 days a week. Look who's got strength in numbers now bitches! And we all know the Cavs are much tougher mentally than those guys from the coast.

This is about to get fun.

IMO, if you were to make a prototypical true big (so not including someone like Draymond) to play defense in the modern day NBA, Tristan is who I would start with.

Length, lateral quickness, athleticism, tenacity, ability to switch out to the perimeter and not get burned, ability to jump out on the perimeter to cut off guys coming off of off ball screens to disrupt timing, ability to hedge and recover...in a world where the high PnR, and multiple screen sets rule basketball, his value as a defender is astronomical...even more so in the post season when the game slows and he tunes in on just one teams scheme.

His only negative that people have complained about is his shot blocking, but he is on pace to have a career best season in that regard.

I'm curious, if we do in fact land Bogut, if he shows Tristan a few things...Tristan is still progressing, and adding arguably the best paint protector in basketball for the last ~5 years could potentially progress him even more as an NBA defender.

For sure. I have never been more excited about this team to be honest. Going to be so deep and have no glaring weakness. I'm a little salty that we didn't pick up PJ Tucker but we just had no assets. Yesterday against Boston he was just igniting his team and the fans. He is one of those guys that gets underrated because he plays on a losing team. Someone you lose in the mix but when you see him on a winning team and in the playoffs he shines.

As for Tristan, I had the impression he was a better post defender last season and I thought he was elite at that. I'm just not really surprised that Frye is able to defend the post better. It wasn't apparent to me last season, but this season I see Centers just shoot over Tristan.
That doesn't really matter at all, he has a strong base which makes it hard to back him down, he is still above average and the other things he does on the court are much more important.

Derrick Williams' ability to guard 4 different positions on the court adds a new dimension to the Cavs too. We now have a guy that can come in and take pressure off Kyrie, LB, or anyone else for that matter on that end of the floor. We had him checking Derrick Rose. Wow.

Probably the most underrated and out of no where great addition to this team. I thought it was an awful addition at first and I was wrong all the way.

So does Deron Williams clear waivers at ~5 PM today? Or do we have to wait until the league office is open on Monday?

5 today. Weekends and holidays don't impact the 48 hour waiver process.

Today.

Jesus, this might as well be in the thread title at this point
