Is Camby a possibility for Cleveland?

They might as well send us the O'Brien trophy along with Camby if this actually went down. There is no way anyone beats us if we add him to this roster... Camby has been on my wish list.

I would trade wally and a first for camby without a doubt. Our defense would be stacked. Imagine a guard driving past out guards to meet, Camby, Wallace, Z and Varejao. Impossible to geta shot off

i dont believe in this BS....i bet they got this from the news herald 3points and rumor mill this mourning b/c it says wally and 1st round pick which is such a coincidence on the same day...

bob finnan wasnt saying it is a rumor or didnt say ferry is interested,he just said the clippers are having a terrible season, camby could be available and it may just take wally+1st

"The Los Angeles Clippers have lost 10 in a row. If they make center Marcus Camby available, would the Cavs try to make a run at him at the deadline? Some think it would take Cavs guard/forward Wally Szczerbiak and a first-round pick to get a deal done"(http://news-herald.com/articles/2009/01/11/sports/doc49698ecb1c474737104246.txt)

-also the other day i read how the clippers are high on camby and told him not to listen to any rumors

I personally would prefer a longer term piece added on the wing or in the front-court.

Camby is solid but he is injury prone and getting up there in age. If we could hold onto the 1st rounder, or we had any indication the Cavs would still be willing to deal Snow's contract in a deal this yearl, then I would do it.

I'd be on the fence with this move though.

Like PIP said...in a heartbeat. Our frontcourt would be so solid, and all the Q's we had about how to try and defend Dwight...there ya go. The man is a rebounding machine, and can score in the post...he's not spectacular...but he gets the job done.

I'm not saying it will or won't happen... but when you look at what is being proposed it is not at all far-fetched and makes sense for both sides. These are the things you need to look for in a realistic trade... just saying.

Just wanted to add, I'm not sure what the fascination is with this year's first round pick. It will likely be very late first round (quite possibly the final pick). If you have to part with it to bring in a piece that makes you this much better you do it in a heartbeat and don't even think twice about it... we already have young guys in JJ and Darnell (and Kaun down the line) to shore up our front line. Boobie, LBJ, Delonte, and Mo are all relatively young too. How much more youth do we need to covet in lieu of guaranteeing a ring right now?

IMO this is a no brainer. If the deal presents itself take ferry, and don't look back.
Especially because he will be an expiring next year.

I hate giving up #1 picks but I do a deal like this. Camby makes the Cavs the favorite to win it all the next 2 seasons. It also gives us possibly the best set of C and PF's in the league and a group that would be very good defensively.

Right now the Cavs would have the last pick in the 1st round in which is also shaping up to be a pretty weak draft.

I do have to think it might take more than Wally and a #1 to get Camby but you never know. Like chiefwahoo56 posted earlier, Camby is high on my list too for possible fairly realistic trade options.

It's perfect because it fits our big man need...

It fits our salary cap need come 2010...

It's fits what were all about come playoff time...Rebounding and defending the paint.

CELTIC FAN reaction just to the rumor...(They're freaking out) :yay:

The 2nd rounder we have from Chicago is almost as good as our own first rounder..the difference will be about 8-13 behind in the draft, but 1st round picks get much better contract stipulations.

Would make us ridiculous defensively in the frontcourt, would help our bench scoring, and would be a boost in rebounding which we need without a healthy Z especially.

But, this is a win-now move and I think most people would agree that it's preferred to get a future core piece by sending off Wally. If we could find a way to steal their draft pick, this would be a golden deal, but that's not gonna happen. But, I wouldn't mind grabbing Camby since he could 1. give a major boost to help us win a championship and 2. give us another expiring along with Ben's next year to find that future 2 and 4/5.

Not a bad move.

EDIT: Or Eric Gordan:D

He's been playing off the charts recently.

Does this really even hurt our future? We just have more expirings a year later is all. I mean unless Wally's contract really can get us a big time younger player this year, then this looks great. As it stands now Im not sure I see a whole lot of better options for what this team needs than someone like Camby.

Late first rounders have been bought for pretty much nothing the last few years. If the Danny's really wanted a player badly late in the first Im sure we could pony up some cash, and that TE I believe we still have laying around... some team that doesnt want to add the contract of a first rounder would bite. Problem solved.

Does this really even hurt our future?
Not really... If we get Camby, and win it all, I think our future is set for years to come...

we would probably have one of the best defensive frontcourt rotations in NBA history...probably THE best. Lebron, ben, Camby, Wallace, Z, Andy. WOW.
