The Clippers are in the midst of a ten-game losing streak, and the Cavaliers might benefit from making a run at the center.

Some around the league believe that the Cavaliers might be able to land Camby for a deal centered around Wally Szczerbiak and a first-round draft pick.

Interesting because they didn't just say fans believed it, but that people from around the league did. I don't know if I'd give upa first rd. pick, it might be valuable. Unless we can gain a nother first rounder, or just trade a 2nd rounder then I'd do it.

Interesting. I would be fine with him as a 3rd/4th big with Varejao, I don't know if Camby would accept that role though.

Salary would take a hit but our D.................................*Licks chops.

Camby, Ben, LeBron???? Block feast.

Yeah, there's almost no way I'd package Wally + a 1st for a 34 year old. I believe, just as many on here do, that the Wally/1st package is meant to land us a guy that is critical to the team's future, providing both LeBron and Mo with a similarly aged big time player.

With that said, I'd love for the Cavs to get Camby. How could the number 1 defensive team not benefit even more from gaining a player who is currently ranked #2 in both rebounds and blocked shots (behind the one and only Dwight Howard). Not to mention, he puts up 13 points a game and is versatile enough to play the 4 or the 5. Having him down low with Z, Andy, and Ben is a playoff frontcourt dream team. I just think with our already aging frontcourt, we shouldn't use a 1st on him (or maybe not even the Wally package that can bring us a premier backcourt player).

Our first rounders are close to a 2nd rounder because we will finish top 3.

And maybe less attractive than a very high 2nd rounder.

Most other teams would prefer really high 2nd round picks to very low 1st round picks, because they don't have to guarantee a certain amount of money/years.

I'm not saying you can't get a decent player at the bottom of the first round from time to time (for instance: David Lee, Barbosa, Josh Howard, Kendrick Perkins, John Salmons, Kevin Martin, Tony Parker) but the Cavs 2009 first round pick is not nearly as valuable as it was in previous years the Cavs managed to trade it away.

In a heartbeat.

Camby could really help us, a big problem we've been having recently, even before Z went out, was giving up too many offensive rebounds. That problem is erased with Camby.

ESPN lists Camby at $10mil this year and next. Then he's off the cap.

Next year, he could either play out the season to make room for 2010 free agents or as an expiring contract next year. If ESPN is right about the figures, the trade could be made 1-for-1.

I imagine the Clippers are holding out for more (named Hickson, or multiple picks) and for Kaman to come back from his injury.

BTW, have you guys checked Camby's recent games....Look at his past 15 games or so, he's grabbed 20+ I think 4 times, 15+ almost every game, and one game had 9 rebs that was his lowest, this is all from memory but he's been grabbing 15-19 boards a night. Big Z would straight up play 22 mpg until the playoffs, the chance of injuries would be dramatically less. Camby's also a great passer, he'd become the best big man passer easily. It's not even funny how good we would be. We'd have two former dpoy's, and a dpoy to be in Bron. OMG!

Very good points about the rebounding. It seems like it has taken a hit without Z. Believe it or not, the Celtics outrebounded the Cavs by 12 in that last game. Camby would undoubtedly fix this up. Just the thought of having him with Ben Wallace gives me chills (as it would give opposing frontcourt players nightmares).

You're talking about two guys that combine for 5 out of the last 7 of the defensive player of the year awards, as well as 3,882 career blocks. I'd love to see KG pull that bully nonsense :chuckles:

edit: It would also be nice for addressing a lot of concerns everyone has with the Magic right now. The Cavs really don't have a player to truly "guard" Howard (then again, who can!). Z is almost laughable, Andy could pester him but game-over on the block, and Ben would do the best job but lacks the height. If Camby was acquired, he would have the best chance to slow him down. He could keep him off of the glass and give us the best possible shot at containing him without having to double him. This would be huge in the playoffs, as Howard would be expected to surpass his 36 minutes per game. The 40 or so minutes could be divvied between Camby and Ben Wallace, which would definitely be the best players to guard Howard throughout all the playoffs.

In the 4 games last year, Howard averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. However, these numbers are even skewed because he found himself in foul trouble those 4 games (recorded 3 or more fouls all 4 times, averaging 3.8 fouls). Hoping Howard gets in foul trouble, or that Andy can draw charges on him is definitely not a longterm solution for a playoff series. With Camby we would be able to turn our attention towards their shooters, without having to constantly double Dwight.

If this is all it takes, get it done now

I would love to get Camby and another low cost wing player.

What about Wally/DJ/09'st FOR Darko/Warrick? Warrick could be very close to G. Wallace, but much cheaper.

Would make us ridiculous defensively in the frontcourt, would help our bench scoring, and would be a boost in rebounding which we need without a healthy Z especially.

But, this is a win-now move and I think most people would agree that it's preferred to get a future core piece by sending off Wally. If we could find a way to steal their draft pick, this would be a golden deal, but that's not gonna happen. But, I wouldn't mind grabbing Camby since he could 1. give a major boost to help us win a championship and 2. give us another expiring along with Ben's next year to find that future 2 and 4/5.

Not a bad move.

EDIT: Or Eric Gordan:D

Man the more I think about this the more I want it. I'm so scared of the Magic right now it's not even funny, and rotating Camby/Z/Ben/Andy all over Dwight will slow him down considerably. Our perimeter players could worry about the 3 pt shooters. We'd be unstoppable.
