Jason Lloyd: Major Roster Shakeup in Next 3 Weeks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was listening to Fox Sports radio out here in L.A. Adrian Wojnarowski was on a few hours ago and didn't expect any big deals at the deadline which contradicts Chad Ford. He said of course anything could happen but at this point there are teams that are sellers but not many buyers. He mentioned the 2 New York teams as the most serious buyers at this point but neither team has great assets to deal. Not Cavs related but he was even doubtful Pau Gasol gets dealt since he didn't see Phoenix or any other team giving up a first round pick for him.

Interesting. In that case, I hope Grant sees what he has through, though I doubt that will be the case.

Myth 2 - Dion passes to Kyrie more than Kyrie passes to Dion.

Reality: While they are on the court together, 31% of Kyrie's assists are to Dion while just 18% of Dion's assists are to Kyrie. Kyrie also has nearly 2x the assist (111 to 60), which he should because he is the better ball handler and passer. Despite Dion having the ball for fewer possessions, they have an equal number of turnovers while they are on the court together because 11.3% of Dion's possessions end in turnovers, 8.6% of Kyrie's end in turnovers.

In fairness, assists only tell half the story. Dion might make just as many passes to Kyrie wide open, but Kyrie's catch and shoot numbers have been crap this year, and I'd bet they're even worse if you just looked at shots in which Dion would get the assist.

I remember a close game (yeah, the plural of anecdote is not data...) where Dion passed to Kyrie 3 times where Kyrie was wide open for 3 and Kyrie wasn't even close on any of them.

The flip side is that Dion shoots best when it's catch and shoot, so Kyrie should get more assists to Dion even if they passed an identical amount to each other.

Not directly Cavs but:

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine about 7 hours ago
Dudley only just arrived from PHX via J.J. Redick sign-and-trade in summer but hearing now he could be on move before Feb. 20 trade buzzer.

Jared Dudley is having an awful season, Cavs need to stay away from him.

Dion would have to shoot 50% better than Kyrie on potential assists to offset the difference (assists don't just happen on catch and shoot situations).

Also, the corollary to myth 2 is the myth that Kyrie won't pass to Dion. Having 31% of his assists got to Dion when they are in the game together disproves that myth.
