I'm not convinced. We are arguing what the hell "empty stats" are because imo there isn't such a thing unless you are talking about the gimme TD some players get at the end of blowout games in football.

Just out of curiosity, what would it take for you to give up JJ in a trade? Would you trade him for the 20th pick? 15th? 10th? (In this years draft)

Too tired to think about or decide what I'd take for him. I'm sure there is something realistic out there that could get me to part with the venerable JJ Hickson, though.

As far as night and day, being consistent, blah blah blah... I've been FOR J.J. since we drafted him. Now I know that probably isn't believable, but I've had faith in him and have displayed that in posts on these boards numerous times... and this is BEFORE he started to break out a bit. FWIW, I have not altered my opinion towards him at all.

No. I would bet we get a worse player. If you care about your money, you would do the same. The %'s are far in favor of that happening. But let's not act like trading Mo and JJ for that pick are even close to similar situations.

Mo is what 27, 28 I think? He has maxed out as a player. We have two young PG's in Gib and Sessions that need to play. Mo has been hurt all year. His contract would be up and he will be 30+ by the time we may be ready to compete again.

JJ is 22. We have no young PF's that he is blocking. He has been healthy all year and all of last season. He is on a cheap contract. By the time we are hopefully competing he will be right in his prime years.

He has been solid for 2 months now, not 1/2 a month. That's a huge difference.

And just to throw it out there. I wouldn't even trade JJ for the 8th pick. Before you go WTF are you talking about? Look at the past 8th overall picks.

How many out of those 10 guys would you take over JJ? I will answer for you since it is obvious.... ONE - Rudy Gay. I hate to say it since we have the Clips pick, but draft picks even as high as 6,7, 8, etc are EXTREMELY HARD to hit on.

I'd look at the entirety of those drafts. Brandan Wright was taken over Joakim Noah. Even though it's hard to hit, just to have an opportunity at the next game changing player is a big deal. I know it seems like a crap shoot to us, but that's because we aren't the ones intently watching these players every game, attending games and holding workouts. Just throwing something into the mix.Don't know if I'd trade JJ for an 8th pick.

I agree with you somewhat, but it is a fact that teams miss more often than hit. If it weren't a fact, we would see the best 10 players go top 10 every year. We would see the best players 11-20 go 11-20 every year.

I believe that a good scout should be able to tell who the best players are and get it right the large majority of the time, but it just doesn't happen that why.

Ok- my bad. I didn't carefully plot out my reply to realize that you'd leap on me and instantly assume that the pick we receive is the 20th pick. Let me put it this way: ANY PICK in the top 20, I consider it heavily. Does that mean I insta-grab the 20th pick? No. It means the pick has to be in the top 20, with each draft spot upping my chances of taking that pick for JJ fucking Hickson, a player who has proven zilch in this league. Is that better for you? I swear, if I had more patience and it wasn't 2am, I would go through this thread and post walls of quotes with people ripping this guy to shreds just 2 months ago. People would be ashamed. We'll see how Hickson finishes the season. He could fall off the face of the damn earth for all you know and this entire thing will look ridiculous.

Yea, you do need to go to bed. Cranky tonight. Not thinking normally. First Kevin Love puts up empty stats,then LeBron is going to come back to Cleveland in 6 years, now this.

You can't get those same type of points late in a blowout game in basketball?

Also, pace of the game always has to be factored in when trying to figure out box score stats.
